hydrogen peroxide mixed with lemon juice. Soak your hair in it then get it as hot as possible - like with a hair dryer or hot sun. Soak it again, dry it again. Keep doing this until you get your desired color. For highlights, do the same thing with select strands of hair over and over again, but use a flat iron.
Wash and condition it really well when you're done.

Lemon juice can help highlight light brown/blond hair and if you have dark brow hair and turn it red, soak your hair in a wash of 2 parts lemon juice and 3 parts water for about 20 min. , make sure to rise well and go outside all day with your hair uncovered so it get's some sun, the sun helps lighten your hair with the lemon juice, and your hair smells really good all day! and it's all natural. Have fun and good luck sweetie.

Try fat-free yogurt. Apply it liberally, leave on for an hour and shampoo off. You can squeeze some lemon juice in the yogurt too. If applied at least once a week, this will visibly lighten your hair in 2-4 weeks.

temporary highlighters are available at drug stores and Walmarts. They wash out in 3-4 washes.
Also, you can go to a Sally's Beauty Supply and buy a highlighting rinse that accentuates highlights in your hair. My hair was turning from blonde to brown. I used my mom's blonde rinse and people commented on the slight difference. Again, it eventually washes out.
A hairdresser could probably also give you ideas.

Several products tend to lighten your hair, sometimes shampoos even do. Just look for the label and it will tell you if it will or not

you COULD go swim everyday. its not really good for your hair but i can make it a lot lighter (if you swim a lot) for example, my friend used to have jet black hair (she's japanese) and after joining the swim team and swiming for HOURS everyday, she now has light brown hair!
