that maybe she shouldn't drink coffee every morning? I just read how caffeine can really affect your unborn child, causing everything from anemia to ADHD, etc.

Should I maybe not even say anything at all?

Every OB/GYN tells you what to avoid while you're pregnant. So I'm sure she already knows. But some women smoke throughout their whole pregnancy and their kids come out just fine. There's evidence that these factors hurt unborn children but did they know this info when our moms were pregnant with us? Is there anything wrong with us now? I'm healthy and my sisters are healthy. It's a matter of what the mom can do. For all anyone knows she cut back to just drinking coffee in the morning. I have two kids and during both pregnancies I ate chocolate, drank soda, and with my first pregnancy I craved coffee (starbucks frappchinos). Both of my kids were born without any heath conflicts. Weighing average or above average. Great responses and everything. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't worry. She knows the risks involved.

I use to hate it when people would tell me about drinking while i was pregnant. I would have a glass of wine with dinner maybe once a week or so. I checked with the doctor and he said it was fine.
You don't know if the coffee de-caf anyway. She is a professor which means that she can read and she is intelligent enough to go to a doctor for prenatal care. The doctor would tell her what is good and what is not.

I really don't think it is your place to say anything to her.

Don't say anything at all. That is one of the rudest things you could possibly tell her. I'm sure she knows that caffeine is not good for her baby, she has probably cut down. The last thing a pregnant woman needs is someone telling her what a bad mom she is, which is what she'll take your comment to mean.

She knows. It's common knowledge that you should cut back on caffeine. But did you ever consider that maybe that big old cup of coffee is decaf? You can't tell by looking.

If you say anything, you will come off as self-righteous and overly critical.

That would also build negative rapport which she will remember when she's scoring your performance.

It would also open the door for a whole slew of criticisms she may have about you, but is too polite and respectful to unleash on you.

Besides, for all you know it may be decaf.

Honestly I wouldn't because in this country it's all about personal choices and offending people even if you have the best intentions. Think about this would you tell an obese person to put down the big mac because it might not be good for his heart? Leave it alone, Good Luck

You should tell your professor about the dangers of drinking so much harm full drugs as caffeine and how it could harm the unborn child

She could be drinking Decaf ?

You are allowed to have caffeine when you are pregnant, just small amounts.

1 cup a day is not going to be a problem.

It may be decaf or something other than coffee, herbal tea or something like that. However, most pregnant women know the risks. I would be hesitant to say something to her though, especially since she's your professor, she may think you're out of line. It's nice that you're thinking of her though.

Leave information in her school mailbox. Leave information on her desk. You might not want to confront her personally because who knows how she'll take the information. Just pass on the info indirectly.
