Firstly, it is 'veil' not 'viel'. I do believe spell check is an option when submitting a question or reply on yahoo!
Secondly, it isn't just the people of a Pakistani origin who wear the veil.
I know someone who was a Christian and decided to become a Muslim, she then decided to wear the veil.
I also know of a Hindu who became a Muslim, she too decided to wear the veil.
I know of many non Pakistani women who wear the veil, including many more who were not born Muslims.

The veil is something that Muslim women wear. Allaah (God) has told them to wear it, it has so many benefits that only a Muslim woman would really understand.
With regards to whether it is their own choice to wear it or if they are forced, a woman should choose to wear it, only then will she understand it and appreciate and love it with her heart.

Everyone has a right to practise their religion and beliefs, it is not something for others to decide or complain about.
Think about it, which ever faith you believe in, would you like it if you were told to remove something you chose to wear or had to wear?

If hoods or helmets were a part of ones religion, then I am sure you would be allowed to wear them in banks.
Until then, they have to be removed and that's the way it is.

Thumbs up to Janet W and Mr Sceptic!!

Kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it. Whether it be the veils or a bandana or a stocking hat it obscures the face. I can respect a law when it applies, across the board to everyone regardless of race, culture or relegious belief. There comes a point where you have to draw the line. Someone can create a "new" relegion that allows full body and facial armour, yet requires all it's people to bear full arms, it's within their relegion to justify killing anyone that goes against them with no proof. That's what extreemists are. The further apart you draw the lines, the more extreem it gets. There are reasonable limits when you are trying to accept all different types of things. Do you want reasonable limits or chaos? The only reason we have been successful is a respect for limits. I don't care what you do in your home or in your church, but when you walk out your door, there are limits! You can't go walking around naked and there are beaches and communities in which you can. You are not forbidden to, only limited as to where this is acceptable. But if you walk into a known nudist camp...you can't go screaming about "your rights" and how you are "offended" by it. Don't like naked people, don't go to a nudist camp. Simple. If you want Spanish signs in your town, fine....then don't tell me I must speak Spanish in an English area. And don't send feelers out to "take over" my town. And don't scream racism when people don't want you or your culture there. Other people have rights too. Even if they aren't the same as yours. We used to have continets divide our different cultures and beliefs......we don't anymore. In America we tried to melt it but that didn't mean a free for all for everybody.

It is muslim women you are referring to - some of whom wear the veil. They come from all over the world not just Pakistan. I agree that it is unfair and ridiculous that no one can wear a hoody now and that crash helmets are recognised as being aggressive and threatening etc when worn for instance, in a bank. I also see little difference between these things and the veils these ladies wear.

However, I am not sure what clearly states i and indeed what i means!!

it is an outstanding question and not in any respect racist in besides. you've in the previous year, in this united states, had a grandmother being requested to do away consisting of her hat in a pub because, for safe practices motives, they weren't allowed as they obscured CCTV images. the in difficulty-free words answer might want to be to limit the veil in such situations the position there have been safe practices motives and concerning a motive force donning a veil a better half might want to ought to pay. having suggested that i might want to have idea that donning one at the same time as using might want to be unlawful in that you've restricted area innovative and prescient, i.e. in case you're taking a sight try they'll somewhat degree at the same time as something turns into glaring on the left or accurate once you're searching ahead.

Mm. Does your bank check their customer's passports to make sure they're definitely Pakistani before letting them in?

"Afghan, eh? You're not on the list, so veil off or you're not getting in, pet."

Seriously, are you under the impression that Indians, Afghans, Brits etc. *can't* wear their veils in the bank? Is that what you're getting your panties in a twist over? You want equality for all nationalities? Aww that's sweet. I think they already have it though. Maybe you should change your bank.

When you say "we're not allowed to wear crash helmets or hoods", does this mean that you wear both? Or are you trying to gang everyone else up against the pakis? You have a good point about the veils, but you are alienating other like-minded people. Because people who wear hoods are also out of order in this country. And so are bank-robbers. I agree that banks deserve to be robbed, as that is what they do to the population, but the cash-teller is hardly the person who we should vent our anger upon. So you remove your helmet out of simple human decency. Likewise you remove your hood or your veil, unless you have evil intent. In which case, you deserve what comes to you.

i do not agree with your terminology.
i do have a problem with the following
(1) the growing of beards after the 9/11 multipul racist murders.
(2) the banning of hoods in public because they caused harrassment, alarm and distress to inocent members of the public and are assosiated with street gangs and crime. this cause every muslim female to want to take up the veil. i know of hundreds that did not normally wear them that have started. it just seem that they want to prove a point.

the female who has a problem at work at the moment(teaching assistant) did not wear her veil to her interview, why, surely she is trying to prove a point.

Although i cant see all of your question i think get the gist of it, and i agree with what your saying. I am getting sick of all this Muslim talk and there "rights" you ask me they ain't got any to be shouting about they are in our country and should abide by our rules. Plus the veil isn't a compulsory part of their their religion.
P S has everyone forgotten what the pope said? If you don't know what i mean he quoted a 12th century pope saying basically Muhammad is evil, this pope lived in the time the Muslims invaded the holy land, so he should know!!!

i ride a motorbike and wouldn't dream of going into a bank or petrol station without taking it off i see it as rude not to. know what i mean!
if you steal something in one of these countries they chop your hands off and all we are asking is that veils are removed as a security precaution whats the big deal if its a problem move back to a country where its not. Im not being racist i just dont see the big problem.
