nothin is wrong with your dog,
like humans some dogs are fast learners and some are slow
learners.
use a treat to teach him. like repeat the word every day. and if you want to teach him jump, put the treat in the air. dogs will learn with treats.

Really don't worry about him not raising his leg my 6 year still at times doesn't raise his.
I would lead train him to listen to you, once you have done that the rest will follow. He is only 4 months. You have to be consisted. When you tell him to sit and he does praise him then treat him. Now that he is in the sit position walk away backward and tell him to stay Watch your dog for any signs of movement just before you think he is gonna move release him from the sit command. Then praise and treat him. I personal don't use treat very often I want pet that listen without being treated. But treating is fine.

he is still young. he hasn;t figured out the lifting a leg thing yet. mine is was 11/2 yrs befor he lstarted lifting his leg. He still doen't every time. Be grateful of the "problem" @ least now you don't have to worry about him peeing on things that are not on the ground, or worse yet people and other animals. You need to make him want to come to you. When you are calling him call excited. If you only call when he is in trouble hewon't come to you. be excited when he comes to you. since this is a big one praise him highly give him lot s of attention and maybe an extra treat. It is ok to train w. treats. wait until he becomes more predictable and start treating him w/ attention or a toy that he likes to play with. then start weaning him off of that.

sometimes male dogs won't lift their leg until they're almost a year. Don't worry it's very normal. While training the dog always keep him on a 6 foot leash so when he doesn't listen to you, you can tug firmly saying"NO COME" when he responds praise him. Repeat every day. The No works for all training issues. Work with him 20 min. a day. You can teach him new things weekly if you use repetition. Good luck

Most puppies pee on all 4 legs. in fact, my four year old lab pees both ways, with his leg hiked, or on all fours. There is nothing wrong with him...it's just what he prefers.
As for listening, since he is just a puppy, use treats all the time, be consistant. once he knows that you will reward him and praise him (always) he will begin to be more responsive to you.
Just remember he IS a puppy...have lots of patience and lots of love for him.

i have a pure white boxer pedigree and he's 1yr old now and he still pees on all fours but they will grow out of it.
instead of giving ur dog treats every time u want him to do things u should tap ya leg and say nicely and in exciting voice "come here boy!!" and then when he sits then give him a treat maybe get him to sit and have his paw out to u

It is normal for a male dog to urinate while standing on all 4's. I've noticed that when my sister's little schnauzer mix finds a scent from a previous animal that has relieved itself, he will heist his leg and urinate over it. Otherwise, he just stands there and lets it go....and he's 6 years old. As for your puppy's obedience to you, or lack thereof, perhaps you could enlist the aid of a Dog Trainer...or check out books from the library and train him yourself.

There is nothing wrong with your dog. As a puppy your dog was clueless on how to pee, so he just started that way. If interacting with other dogs, he may learn to pee lifting his leg

He is still a baby and he's growing. He probably doesn't have enough strength in his legs to lift. Keep calling him and he'll come. When he does come, reward him with a belly rub or kiss and say, Good Boy.

It is perfectly normal for your dog not to raise his leg...my german shephard/collie mix didn't lift his, his whole life.....he always stood. And it sounds like you have a stubborn dog....He likes rewards too......try to call him and tell him that you have a treat....if he sees you have a treat and he comes you praise him, keep doing it to the point that he comes just for you to praise him, and don't give him human food, its not good for him anyways.
