It seems like most of the people I talk to about it hate this religion over all other religions. Why hate this one more than another one?

I don't think it is hatred for the religion, but hatred towards the deception that so many people succumb to. On the outside LDS seems like a "christian" church. They have the best family programs and evangelism of any church in the US. They outwardly follow purity in life and morals.

Many people who think that you get to go to heaven by living a clean and moral life are easily led to believe that LDS is the christian church for them. The truth is, it is not a Christian Church, as Christian refers to those who follow Christ as the son of God. Mormonism teaches that Jesus was only a prophet and satan was his brother. That is clearly against Christianity.

And that's why so many people can't stand what the LDS teach...because it is deception and untruth wrapped up to look like the real thing.

If you mean "Latter Day Saints", possibly because their founder "discovered" some lost texts which he then took it upon himself to decide were the word of God and part of the bible, as well as telling everyone that conveniently the new Jerusalem would be built in... the USA. Many LDS followers have multiple wives/husbands which doesn't increase their popularity, although the Church says this is not their belief or policy.

According to Wikipedia "According to Latter-day Saint theology, the term Mormon refers to a prophet who lived in the Americas in the 4th century A.D. He was called of God to abridge and compile the records of his people and their dealings with God into a single book. This book is now known as the Book of Mormon. After Mormon's death, his son Moroni witnessed the complete destruction of his people and buried the record compiled by his father in a hill in what is now upstate New York. This same Moroni, more than 1400 years later, was sent by God as a messenger to Joseph Smith who went to the place where the record was buried, and with a great deal of help from God he translated it into English."

How convenient for this American that such a sacred and important text had found its way to New York, where the New Jerusalem is to be built as well!

It isn't hate, or it shouldn't be. It is that the church of LDS is misleading, built upon the Word. No man shall add to the Word, yet, you have 3 more books that are just as sanctified as the bible. New prophets and prophecies that are reintepreted. Changed doctrine that is brought upon by politically correctiveness

People don't hate LDS. It just insults your intelligent to believe it. Like the people. Laugh at the myth. See the South Park episode.

It is the most successful and financially sound cult to come along in a thousand years or so. It's basis is so wacky (salamander) and the founder so obviously schizophrenic, his doctrines cannot be taken seriously. Also, the fact that the LDS stress education and accomplishments alienates some people, who are not otherwise inclined toward those goals.

Oh I wouldn't say that. I don't like any religion that preaches a false gospel or puts out false information about the person of Jesus Christ. The LDS is merely one of them.

A combination of fear and suspicion of the things we don't understand about LDS traditions, beliefs, and practices and disdain for the things we do. I find the stories of Joseph Smith and the authorship of the Book of Mormon impossible to believe, though I admire some of your articles of faith, especially the bit about "being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and...doing good to all men."

There's a lot of misconceptions about us floating around out there, but the good news is most of them really are genuine misunderstandings.

Besides compared to 150 years ago when members were getting tarred and feathered, murdered, and their houses burned, I'd say we were doing pretty good for ourselves.

best wishes

They never have and still don't like the idea of a Latter Day Prophet. Maybe that's why they don't want to tolerate the Muslims either.
