religion has nothing to do with football, the so called football fans out ther who sing sectarian songs on the terraces of both celtic park and ibrox are nothing but bigots who actually are doing there clubs more harm than good, when will scottish football as a whole stamp out this evil from our game for good, these people are the same idiots who stand together at scotland matches cheering on the same players who they give abuse to on league day, all you bigots need to get a grip and stop this before it does damage to our game which will never be fixed, and just so you know i support rangers , i have done for 30 years since i was five years old

I don't know whether Celtic fans do always ask questions concerning religion; I think that's generalising and perhaps a bit far fetched. However, after reading some of these answers, I do think its sad that religion is bought into football....(ie Celtic, Catholic, Rangers, Church of England). It's primitive and encourages hate, agression and hooliganism. Football should just be about sport and competition.

Up until the 1980's Rangers never had a catholic working for them never mind playing for them and they gave up on players cos they thought they were catholic. They are a loyal bunch of royalists supporting a nation that tries to run Scotland into ruin any chance they get.
everyone needs to get politics and religion out of the game and stop the shite before the rest of the world has had enough.

Hear, hear Holio.
The regular posters on this board from Oaf Firm fans show that they have nothing in their lives but hatred for the other team.
That is what their succcess is based upon.
Hatred.
Most of the writers are of such low intelligence they are barely human and must be close to being classfied as a sub-species.
You know the ones I mean.
They are an embarrassment on here but not to Scotland in general.
You get low humans everywhere and in Scotland they are drawn to the Oaf Firm.
That's it really.

Celtic have Catholic origins, Rangers Protestant. This sectarianism has fuelled a bitter rivalry for many years. Not dissimilar to the situation in Northern Ireland.

What is wrong with asking a religious question? How come some people claim that they do not believe in religion yet whenever they are in a situation, the first thing you hera is 'Jesus Christ' or when they are happy, you hear exclamations such as 'Christ have mercy'. Celtic supporters believe in fair play unlike the rowdy and cheating Gers crowd. Leave the Celts alone.
