Too many variables. People with HIV and especially AIDS (which is HIV infection and a CD4 count below 200 or an opportunistic infection) are very susceptible to many diseases, and well get diseases that simply aren't a problem for immunocompetant people, but that doesn't mean that a common cold will kill them. The "common cold" is a virus, there are actually many types that cause the symptoms, and generally has a pretty benign course in just about anyone, though anything is more dangerous if you are unable to fight it as well as a healthy person.
The prognosis of any infection in an HIV patient is dependant on many things, from CD4 count, to the type of infection to any meds the patient may be on to enviornmental factors, it's too complicated to give a meaningful prediction here.

It will take him longer to get over the cold. If he has advanced aids it could kill him
