Potatoes turn green from long exposure from sunlight. The green is accually the increase of solanine in the potato. Solanine is poisionous to humans in large quantities. When a potato is green, you could get very sick and possibly die from eating it.

potatoes don't turn green . they r dug up too soon and r green when they are package. if they r fully ripe they r white all over. some say u should not eat green potatoes, as they can make u ill.
