It can be done, but I wouldn't recommend it. Eventually the ceramic could start creaking under the laminate. i would tear it all up. It's also a good idea to lay new louon (sp) down on the floor too. Make the finished flooring more even and solid

Yes, laminate can be laid over tile flooring as long as the floor is level. You DO need a moisture barrier as stated earlier. Be careful as to what you are actually buying. I would recommend going with a company such as Mohawk, etc. They have very good warrenties on their laminate products.

If you plan to lay wood flooring over concrete, put down a moisture barrier and a plywood floor, supported by wooden strips. Cover the floor with strips of plastic sheeting. Place 2x2 strips on the sheeting along the wall, and 16 inches on center in between. Every 4 feet, put in a 2x2 cross bar that connects the strips. Glue the strips and cross bars to the plastic with construction adhesive, and nail the plywood on top.

yes, as long as the existing flooring is in solid condition. if your flooring is alreading loose and popping up then i would recommend taking it up. its dirty work but not everything is cut and dry. be sure to put the vapor barrier down like others have said if your going over the tile. if you have big grout lines then you might have to use a leveling compound to fill the joints. this product is available at most home centers and is called (henry)products.good luck

NO! The floor must be completely level with a moisture barrier. You have to remove the ceramic flooring.
