The New England area of the United States is particularly pretty in the Fall as the leaves turn. Accomodations without reservations can be very hard to find.

Here in the USA, New England is famous for its fall colors.
In Japan [Kyoto], Jidai Matsuri [Procession of historical costumes] is Oct 22.
In Mexico: Dias de los Muertos [Days of the Dead]. Oct 31- Nov 2. Mainly in the states of Michoacan [ esp. Patzcuaro] and Oaxaca. Lots of different ceremonies to link the dead with the living.
In Brazil [Belem]: CÃrio de Nazaré
[Amazon region Festival], mid-Oct, 15 days.
