Even in this day and age, I still pick up hitchhikers. I don't care what color they are or what religion they are. You need help, you got it.

As a Humanist, I believe it is my moral duty to help my fellow human beings whenever I can, but my respect for life and service doesn't require me to be foolhardy. I'd use my senses to collect data and make a judgment call. Ethnicity and religion wouldn't be significant factors, but it would matter whether I was driving alone or traveling with my family. I'm much more cautious when I'm with my wife, though I have picked up strangers in storms with her in the vehicle before. I would almost certainly do so again in your scenario. We have to help out one another. If my grandchildren were in the car, I would hesitate, but I'd probably still stop and help people obviously in trouble. People can die in such conditions, after all, so their lives might be in my hands.

"And so the first question that the priest asked--the first question that the Levite asked--was, 'If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?' But then the Good Samaritan came by, and he reversed the question: 'If I do NOT stop to help this man, what will happen to HIM?'" ~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., "Mountaintop" sermon.

Smile, wave, wish them well. They are just there on the side of the road, right?

OK so they are in trouble. In that case. I would let them know that I am getting help for them and them go for help. Unless it's a woman with kids. Then I would take them to help. I've had to do that before. I saw a truck skid off the road in the snow but couldn't stop because my car would have been in trouble too. So when I got to the top of the hill I called for help on my cell phone.

How would you tell what color or race they are in a blizzard....or whether they were deists or atheists???
I guess you should pick them up then find out just who they are. Then when they find out that you are anti black, anti Hispanic and anti atheist, they would grab you by the neck, throw you out in the blizzard and drive away in your car.

I wouldn't be on the road in the middle of a blizzard or a hurricane.

I would like to say that I would stop and offer them a ride. However, at the same time I would fear for my own safety when dealing with a complete stranger. Thsi is the great test which verifys our commitment to God and his teachings. Only time and circumstance will ever show me my true self.

There's a killer on the road,
His mind is squirming like a toad.

I would notify the police on the cell phone.

Under those conditions I'd even help Falwell.
I would never reveal I did it though.
