We should have a completely gay only branch of the Army.
Like some comedian said, "Don't make us send our gay army over there."

It is gay that lesbians and gays cannot be in the military? I will leave it up to someone else to comment on that statement.
One of the few things Pres Clinton ever did was sign the order called "Don't ask' don't tell". The order said that the military could not investigate and the people could not openly admit to being homosexuals.
I served in the military and I served with people who I knew were gay. One guy in particular saved my life. I have no problem with them serving.
I do have a problem with a disruption of discipline in the military. Young men are often offended by gays and it could result in discipline.
The military is there to protect the USA, it is not a place for social experimentation. If gays want to serve they have to remain quiet to protect unit discipline and ultimately the mission.

They are allowed in the military, as long as they aren't announcing that they are gay. My husband is military and I've known several people, male and female, who were gay and serving. I've heard of only a few incidents where someone was kicked out for sexual orientation, and that was usually for basically advertising the fact that they were gay. I know a lady now who is in the military and has a daughter and she's raising that daughter with another woman. She says the woman is her babysitter, but everyone knows they are couple. Since they aren't making a big deal about their sexuality, nobody else is either.

I love it when people with barely any grammar, vocabulary or spelling skills ask heated political questions.
If you're homosexual and want to enlist, just don't tell your recruiter that you bat for the other side, and don't ask your bunk-mate in BCT on a date.
Homosexuals in the military make just as much sacrifice as any other soldier; they're not always leaving their families (spouses, children) during training and deployments, but they have to suppress who they are in order to do a job they believe in. I don't think that's fair, but I see how keeping it under wraps is vital for unit cohesion, discipline, and mission readiness. Minimize the distractions and prejudices, and people tend to work better together.

Nice play on words. First off the don't ask don't tell don't persue policy is still in effect. You are not watched 24/7 by uncle sam. What you do in your own bedroom is of your own choosing. With that said, any person in the military wears to hats. The one in uniform and out. As long as someone could maintain the seperation, I don't see why they couldn't indulge in there own lifestyle (keep in mind, some limitations are placed on places to go, etc) within reason.

I have to ask, by what definition of the word "gay" is it gay to discriminate against gay people? The ban against gays is, indeed ridiculous, the only things keeping it in place are fundamentalist Christian lobbies and straight guy's fears that they will be treated by other guys the way they themselves treat women. Perish for fend that men should be at risk of unwanted sexual attention too.

Look at the source. bush is no leader by any stretch of the imagination. He just wants to play the 'gay' card and blame some problems on them. Hitler did the same thing.

I don't mind just as long as they are not using the same showers or bathrooms as me. I don't want any guy to get to peep at me while I'm in the shower. Yes in the army alot of the time we have to take showers in an open shower environment. Women don't want to take showers with men and men don't want to take showers with guys who would be checking them out while they soap up.
