As of late, I've been getting violation notices left and right, all of which are bogus, simply for stating my religious position, which is that all religions are false, that there are no inspired holy books, that Jesus probably never even existed, etc.

These are valid positions that are not insults to other participants, they are not forms of "chatting", they are not racial slurs, etc (the bogus categories being chosen, since "i don't like that" isn't one of the listed violation categories).

Why do people come to a nondenominational public religious Q&A forum to carry out some kind of holy war against any positions they don't like?

If you only want to see questions and answers that pander to your preconceptions, there are thousands of Christianity only forums, and Muslim only forums out there.

They all try to claim this section as their own, even though ALL religions and even all opinions ABOUT religion are welcome here. Hell, the "spirituality" part of the title implies that someone could come in here looking for meditation techniques or something like that. It's not just for people who believe in the Bible. I agree, it's really irritating when people try to make that assumption, and even worse, imply that the rest of us aren't welcome here because we don't agree.

I mean, the overall leader on the Y!A scoreboard was here posting a ton of Hindu questions last night. This place isn't solely for Christianity.

Your question makes much sense. Yes, this section is flooded with Christians and Muslims. These two groups are, unlike you, theists. So whenever you state something like "all religions are false" that will not be so welcome. But if you also add some flavor of defamatory themes by going beyond the limits, you get reported easily, as you belong to a potential minor group. Yes you obviously have your own viewpoint, but sadly, that'll always be turned down by these major groups.

About violation email, you get it only when Yahoo! deems your post as a violation of guidelines. It's not automatic. So if it bothers you much, you have to rephrase your posts in more decent ways, or else you keep getting that, and ultimately thrown out of here. Don't ever think your points will save you, we all know some featured participants with 40,000+ points got suspended.
Take those violation alerts as wake-up-calls.

Oh yea, you said, "If you only want to see questions and answers that pander to your preconceptions, there are thousands of Christianity only forums, and Muslim only forums out there." My response is the same, if you can't manage your posts decent and non-hurting, you better leave Y!A and look for other atheist forums. There are thousands out there. And yes, you are always welcome to say "good bye" to us!

I believe in free speech, as an American. My humble thoughts are that you are in need of therapy, my fellow poster. You are obviously having a middle life crisis, after looking at your 360 page and most of your posts. Slamming other people's faith may be a salve to you and make you feel better about losing your faith, but it is not well received by people who spend many hours of their lives dedicated to their particular faith. You tend to make fun of faith a LOT, and ask questions about Santa, etc. to bolster this humor. You are obviously a very smart man, and if I were as smart as you I would be using this blessing in more powerful, productive ways. I wouldn't be spending hours here making fun of faith, flirting with other female members inappropriately if married with children, and posing shirtless with a 40-something aging upper body on my 360 page. I am only in my early 30's and a marathon runner, but wouldn't do such a thing. From the obvious quality of your writings, you are much too bright for such nonsense.

I am very sorry to be so mean spirited, just trying to help you and others in Yahoo Answers. I am not picking on you personally, please forgive me if you received it that way.

I don't see anything that says this forum is for certain groups only. I for one appreciate the facts, and opinions you post. You are right, a lot of us get Q&A's deleted due to the fact that someone didn't like what we had to say, and those that lack the ability to accept that this is an open forum should go find one that their belief is the "only" topic.

I agree.

People should come here to get answers to legit religious/spiritual questions and not to force their opinions on others.

Somedays, this sections makes me wish that there were seperate subcatagories for the different beliefs just to calm down the preaching/hateful comments. Sadly, I don't even think it would work because people would be constantly dipping into other catagories to moralise others.

In a perfect world, this section would serve to inform others of beliefs or non beliefs and not be a cesspool of attacks and defensiveness.

True spirituality is NOT religious based in nature. It is founded upon your spirit and not books or doctrines from olden times meant to manipulate your individual path.

That is religion. So, with a forum called "religion AND spirituality" people must accept not only religious wailings but atheistic viewpoints and viewpoints AGAINST RELIGION but PRO-SPIRIT.

Religion and spirituality are polar opposites. So, to answer the question: NO, R&S does NOT mean only two faiths from the Sinai Peninsula.

I actually have to say I agree with what you're saying. And for the record, I am a Christian.

And, to me, if an opposing view threatens my beliefs then perhaps I should be examining more closely what it is I believe, exactly, and why it is I believe.

I personally appreciate it when my beliefs get challenged and put to the acid test. How else am I going to grow?

Muslims get their panties in a bunch over anything. I'm tired of losing points over Poki's and East Magic's sniveling. May the burrs of Belgian horse chestnuts be upon their long underwear.

The historicity of Jesus is a well established fact whether you agree with his message or not.

If you maintain that God has NOT shared his truth with humanity then your predestiny is unbelief. You are trapped in the prison of your own self-fullfilling prophecy that God isnt with us and that simply is a very dark, unenlightened, self-refuting philosophy not shared by most.
