Because it is in Islam that a muslim woman should not let a man see any part of her body that will attaract the opposite gender. And those who do cover their body a proper muslims.

I think it has to do with modesty of dress and only showing your body shape to your husband. I get warm fast so wearing one of these garments would surely kill me. So many you see on TV are black and in that dessert heat. I can't imagine. It's just one way that the men in these areas oppress women. Barbaric!!!

they don't go out at night.
it's to keep the man's mind off the beauty of a woman. keep his thing in his pants, because the women are so beautiful they might get raped. (because the 'men' can't seem to be able to compose themselves around beautiful women).
the women don't know any better than to do what the men tell them to do. it's a cultural thing that i can't get my head around. all too confusing for me.
