Okay, heres what'll happen. First, make sure you're on a visitors list so that you aren't denied entry when you arrive. Don't carry anything on you that you don't need. Bring your car keys and driver's license, and maybe a secondary ID. Leave your cellphone and your wallet.

You'll fill out some brief paperwork (maybe just your name and the name of the prisoner you're visiting,) and then you'll pass through a metal detector and be frisked by a female officer. If its a Class 1,2, or 3 prison, you'll probably sit in an open area with the prisoner, where you can visit freely, buy sodas (you'll have to pay as he won't have any money) from a vending machine, etc. If its maximum security, you'll speak through a plexiglass window which may or may not require the use of a telephone headset. It'll be loud in there and you'll be closely watched.

Don't be nervous, just don't bring anything in that you aren't supposed to bring.

relies upon why they are incarcerated, and why you attempt to unfastened them. Are you claiming that they have got been falsely imprisoned, or falsely accused, or that there become a concern with the trial that resulted in a faux conviction or an unfair sentence? if so, call the yankee Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). that's what they focus on. Are you desirous to get them out early for stable habit? Or something else? call a physically powerful criminal professional and see what they are able again up with. in simple terms be very careful that the legal experts you call are respected. stable luck!

I have, but it was back in the 80s
The visitors were allowed to sit in the same room with the prisoner although no touching was allowed, e.g.,hugs or holding hands.
