I know 2 people with the picasso, they love it.
I hate renault, my laguna was totally unreliable and was only 3 yrs old. I had a firend with the scenic - wasn't much better. Less than 1 year old, wipers broke twice, then gearbox collapsed.

It's all about personal taste. The Vauxhall Meriva isn an excellent 5 seater or the bigger Zafira. Underrated but amazingly reliable are any type of Mitsubishi's. They have some fine mpv's at present. Affordable and economical to run. Renault Espace new version has eliminated most of the old type of complaint and are very very good now but a little bigger than you were thiking of. The new scenic is good but not as reliable as the Espace.

Its easy to drive, spacious, comfortable and has all those little gadgets that make a car special.

I would not buy either of them. Friends of mine own picasso,s and scenics and after seeing the silly problems that they have had would put me off them. Have you looked at the Corolla Verso yet? Toyotas build quality and reputation is superb and there are plenty of them about and the D4D engine is very economical. Good luck.

The most reliable mpv on the British roads is the VW / Ford / Seat......ie Sharan / Galaxy / Alhambera.......with the 1.9 TDi engine......FACT.
All Renaults, Citreons etc are stupidlly unreliable on electrics, especially 80k miles onwards.......

You'll get more for your money with a Scenic. You can pick up a '55 reg from a car supermarket for around £7999. They are often ex-lease cars with low mileage - try www.motorpoint.co.uk

Vauxhall Zafira is worth a look. 7 seats, but the rear two fold down into the floor easily, as do the rest of the seats givng pretty good luggage space if you don't need 'em.
