The Calvinists and the Puritans believed in predestination. which says that God already has it planned out whether you will go to Heaven or Hell. Then there is the issue of Free Will, which says that the choices you make in life determine where you go after leaving the earth. Many people think that there cannot be free will if there is predestination. and visa versa

Dear Unknown,
You can choose where you want to sit down or what T.V. program you want to watch or what newspaper you would like to read but you cannot choose heaven. Notice that I did not include hell as a choice because ALL people have broken God's law. And the result of breaking God's law (sin) is eternal damnation or hell (also called the lake of fire). The fact of the matter is that ALL of us are destined to go to hell unless we can find someone to pay our sin debt for us. God (the Lord Jesus Christ) in His great mercy determined to redeem (save) some of us rebels before the world was created (Ephesians 1:3-6). These individuals whom the Lord determined to save are refered to in the Bible (God's law book) as the "elect, remnant, chosen, saints, wheat, redeemed, etc.
So, you see, the Lord has chosen whom He would save. The Bible also tells us that God is no respector of persons and that there is nothing we can do to earn our way into heaven. So every individual stands on level ground. However, if God has determined to save you, it will be in the environment of hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17). Just as God spoke and brought the universe into existence and raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11), His word (the Bible) is able to give spiritual life to a person who is dead in sins and trespasses (Ephesians 2:1-3). The Lord is very merciful. So keep reading the Bible and pray that the Lord might have mercy on you. This will not ensure your salvation but it will put you in the right environment if God has chosen you to salvation.

Matthew 11:27
"All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
Ephesians 1:11-14
11In him we were also chosen,[e] having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession—to the praise of his glory.
John 6:44
44"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.
1 Peter 2:8
and "A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense."They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.
(Now dont confuse the Jews who are being set aside for Salvation when the time comes- For God says he will save Israel- Read Romans 11 for that)
God is Soverign and the Bible is VERY clear on that. He is in Control~ And I praise him for that!

Hell is your choice and Heaven is your choice... It is not predetermined.
GOD does already know who will make it and who won't because He already knows what decisions and choice you will make in the end.

Salvation through the Blood of the Lamb, from the foundation. So either we receive God's Grace or reject it. The choice is really our own.

If a god, heaven and hell really existed, then it would be entirely god's choice where you went. As it is, when you die you simply cease to exist.
