I got mine pulled out last week and its not that bad. Just dont freak out, make sure you take pain killers before the freezing wears off. I was put asleep while it was done. Some people just get freezing alone and they say its not that bad either. Your bottom ones will hurt more than the top.
For the first two days dont eat solid food. My mom made me darlic mash potatoes...yum. And also you can get those meal replacement milk shakes. Just get plenty of rest....dont touch the areas with your tongue and when u start to feel the stitches, dont try to pull them out...they will fall out by themselves.
Ok.....g luck <3

There is medicine that the dentist can give you to numb any pain, another is laughing gas if your body has no problem with it.
Once done in about 1 day you're jaw should start to swell, and will have trouble talking. Some things to eat are Jello, Custard, Soups that do not have meat. I had 2 taken out 2 yrs ago took one week off from work since i could not communicate very well with speech to the site I was contracted to.

My son recently had this done, about three weeks ago. My best advice to you is listen to, and follow the instructions you are given at the office. Dont use any straws or smoke the first few days. The suction can cause dry socket which is painful. And keep your tongue, and fingers out of the sockets. Bite down on gauze until the bleeding stops, changing it about every 30 minutes to an hour, this usually takes about 24 hours or a little longer. Hang in there, its not that bad. I had it done years ago, followed directions, and had no problems.

Its not that bad. Get your pain medication before your surgery, make sure you have someone to drive you home, a nice place to rest, lots of soft foods like mashed potatoes, pudding, apple sauce etc. An ice pack with a soft covering and put it in the freezer at least a day before. Mix up a pitcher of warm salt water, it really helps with the bleeding and sooths your gums, and make sure the doctor gives you extra gauze. Pick up good book and a few good movies and get ready for a couple days just hanging out and resting.

I had my wisdom teeth taking out when i was 17 & 20. I was in very mild pain, but not so bad that it affected my everyday activities. Don't be scared. Go on an have it done. They could start to grow in sideways if you wait to long like mine did. Then they have to be cut out....ouch. Good Luck.

I had all four taken out when I was 19 years old and they sent me to a oral surgeon and they put me completely out so I don't remember the procedure at all. Yes I was in some discomfort after the meds wore off, but they give your apin killers to help with that. If they aren't gonna put you put you out for it then I suggest asking for some laughing gas or something to help you relax. Take a portable CD player with your favorite relaxing music on it to listen too. If you are having more than 1 being taken out I would ask to be put out.

I've had to have three of mine taken out and the first one i was scared 2 death too but i was awake though the whole thing and it was really not bad at all.
Ask the dentist to give you some strong painkiller's and take them as soon as you feel the slightest tingle of your mouth coming back to normal and your be fine.
The second and third ones i had taken out the same time.

I had it done not long ago. I was scared also. I just talked to the dentist and he explained that there would be very little pain. It is over in no time and not worth all the worrying I did over having it done.

ask the dentist to give you a mild tranquilizer to take the night before...have someone drive you to the appt. I went to an oral surgeon who put me to sleep for the whole thing, no big deal.
Have a good supply of popcicles in the freezer and ice packs to apply to your face to minimize pain and swelling. You'll be fine.
