I go into msconfig and uncheck them, but as soon as I use one again it is back into my start up. What do I need to change in the software itself to keep that from happening?

go to run, type in msconfig, go the startup tab, uncheck the programs you don't want to run on startup

Do it in safe mode, by pressing F8 repeatedly before the windows logo appears on start-up.

Most spyware programs detect the change done in msconfig and change it back before you restart. In safe mode they should be disabled. Also make sure to disable the non Microsoft services (Services tab in msconfig if using Windows XP).

Then run a good online scan like http://housecall.trendmicro.com

you should try edited the preferences of the program. Usually there is an option there that says Start with Windows or something like that, just uncheck it.
