What isn't to like? They put their lives on the line everyday for people that they don't even know and who will probably never appreciate it and make very little for it. As with any job and any person, there are always a few bad apples in a barrel but that doesn't mean they are all bad. Think of what the world would be like without the police.

I have never had reason to call police and have never been in trouble with the police yet i can still say i like and respect them. I have always been of this opinion as even though you do get the few bad apples, as in every part of life, they still put their a*ses on the line when everyone else is running in the opposite direction. I must admit that now I can be called biased as I now work for the police and my partner is a police officer, but i have always been of the same opinion of them since i was young. the thing is that people never talk about the positive side of things, maybe last week someone was saved from being stabbed by a knife wielding maniac but if that maniac then claims his handcuffs were too tight that is the story making the news because bad news sells (i also used to be a journalist so i know this is the case). the majority of the people who say they cannot even appreciate the job the police do are those who have been in trouble or will never be satisfied whatever they do.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: you don't have to be a criminal or get a traffic ticket to hate the police. You can look wrong - you can be detained for probable cause, get shook up, and then let go. It depends on your own personal experience with the police. I don't think it's relevant whether or not the public likes the police. If it was, I don't think there would be very many. Did I mention that my screen name is Tar Kettle?

Our police force is greatly under funded, and under staffed, and under valued. They work like hell to do their jobs amidst piles of red tape and political correctness. They are often accused of doing nothing when they receive calls from residents who have had burglaries , etc but the truth is that the couple of police officers who get that call are probably the only ones on the shift .When will this Government allow the police to get on with the job of fighting crime instead of acting as social workers for some unfit mother who couldn't care a damn. Blair's government ride roughshod over our police and because they are not allowed to strike they can't fight back in order to get their annual 3% payrise which has so far been denied to them. Police moral is at an all time low and the Thin Blue line is anorexic but still the boys and girls in blue don't give up. The answer to your question is yes, I do like the police because I am a law abiding citizen who has nothing to fear from them.It is the Labour Government and all the criminals who dislike them.

Yes. I love the police. No one would have any reason to not like the police is they would just grow up and behave themselves. It's not that difficult.

Police are okay when they do their jobs, but the abuse of power sometimes bothers me. Like simple things such as running through a red light for no apparent reason, could have hit me I has the right of way. That sucks. Or when they put on their sirens just to go through the red then turn them right off. That sucks. If they are protecting and serving, we can be cool.

In general, YES. There may be a few individuals in the police force that I don't like; but overall they have a very difficult job and do a fine job. If you don't do anything illegal - you will not have trouble.

Some I do some I don't.Just like any group there are good and bad. Most enter the force with high ideals. Most I think retain their ideals. Some become corrupted.Others just get burnt out.
There are a few that I hold special in my heart. They helped saved my daughters life. For that I will always be grateful.
