It's been far too long of a debate!! English as a second language schools in America??? No Way!! Whats the hold up here people?

it all has to do with the Constitution of the united states. it was never established what language we speak. there was immigrants coming from all over the world.

we would then need to have a government body to legislate what words are english, and what correct grammar entails. american english is very complex, and even native speakers are usually not completely fluent in it, so adopting it as a language is biting off more than many of us can chew, but then it's all we've got, now isn't it?
the reason nothing happens is there really is no debate from the public's point of view. personally i am very interested in the issue, but i have never once heard it discussed on TV, for instance. it doesn't sell votes, and it doesn't sell commercials, apparently. I am all for an official language for use in law and government. a simplified version of american english. and a (hate to say it) government body to legislate exactly what correct usage of American is.

I really have no idea,it certainly should have already been our official language.Write to your Representatives in Washington and demand it be put into law.There were a couple of bills in the House ,I think before this recess so perhaps we need to tell them a little louder.Make English this nations official language.Its time!

Because we've been hook winked into observing political correctness and embracing multiculturalism. two things the communists in the 19th century said had to happen in America to kill America. Now all we have to do is give up private property (we're almost there, ie illegal immigration, eminent domain) and the Leninist can move in and take over!
