Personally, I believe that it doesnt matter if a child was born out of wedlock. That child would enter into Heaven based upon his actions throughout his life and not if he was concieved within wedlock or not. However, I have heard debate on this and I would like to hear your opinions.

Children are an example of the Kingdom of God. They have not yet purposely rebelled against God. So, if die early, will go to heaven.

It doesn't matter if the child is born out of wedlock because the child has no choice of how he or she were brought in. The only way that the child will not be able to enter heaven is if the child has not excepted the lord as their savior and if they have not live the life that the lord has called them to be.

I agree with you. He like everyone else needs to accept Jesus to get to heaven. Jesus himself was concieved out of wedlock. So I don't think that argument can even hold. It is much better if you are married. Sex out of wedlock is a sin. Children are simply an innocent outcome. It's unfortunate that certain religions believe this. Are these children, then, outcasts? Shame, shame. I'm sure Christ would not approve. He loves us all.

In the Catholic faith, a child born out of wedlock or by parents who were not married by a Catholic priest is technically considered illegitimate and not allowed to be baptized, or enter Heaven should they die in infancy. But I think they may be able to be baptized and confirmed at a later date with the approval of the Church.
The whole thing is, of course, hogwash. Why would God send any baby to purgatory/hell for any reason? Especially something so far beyond his/her control? It's basically a scare tactic used on adults to force them into matrimony.
I think most modern priests are willing to baptize a baby regardless of the parents' status.

Children are children. All have the opportunity to enter heaven. Wasnt Jesus born out of wedlock? And many of the saints too??

A child being born in or out of wedlock is not the issue. Only the persons level of belief and trust in Christ, and if that person has accpeted Christ as King, LORD and Saviour.

I myself was born before my parents were married but I believe that no matter weather you were or were not born in wedlock makes a difference on weather or not you have a place in heaven. If we are all conceived in the holy spirit than we are all bound for heaven at birth.

I've never heard anyone ever say that a child is condemned to hell because he/she was born out of wedlock...I don't see any reason to believe that.

Remember we have free will and though that child was born b/c of a sinful act does not mean he or she does not have a chance to go to Heaven. That is base solely on them
