The lead you are refering to is actually called graphite. The lead poisioning that I think you are alluding to is from the actually substance Lead (Element symbol pb). The lead from your personal, while not tasty, is not going to cause lead poisoning.

while lead poisioning is a very serious matter, it is highly unlikely that you ingested enough to do any damage.
if you ate two or three cases of pencils with lead you may develop an ailment, but it would probably not be lead poisoning, more likely it would be something damaging to your stomach and intestinal tract.
but you should be commended for being safety conscious and concerned.........

LEAD HASNT BEEN USED IN PENCILS FOR DECADES! ITs graphite. Do you really think pencil manufacturers would use a toxic substance in their product, just so they can get sued every 5 minitues by pencil-biters??? No way. RELAX.

I shouldnt think that is a danger...if you stuck yourself, and the lead stayed in for awhile, then there might be a cause for concern...takes a lot of lead to get poisoned....

it is only called pencil "lead"...there is NO lead [metal] in pencil lead..

many years ago, pencil makers used lead based paints on the wood...and if you chewed on a pencil...you got lead from the paint in your mouth... ...that was discontinued 50-60 years ago...but the "urban myth" persists...
