It's not meant to insult. I always consider mormons as Christians because you believe in Jesus. Yes you also have the book of Mormon, but you still believe in Jesus therefore you are Christian, right?

I just wanted to thank all of you nice people who have opened up about your faith here. If you believe in Jesus Christ, you are Christian. Or at least, that is how I understand it. What's most important is that it seems that you are all using your faith in the right way. That is to make the world a better place. None of the Mormons who answered have posed any judgement on anyone elses faith. I thank you for your sincerily and kindness in your answers.

Yes, we consider ourselves Christians because we define Christians just like you do. (People who define it differently will say otherwise of course).

- Oh, and we use the Bible too.

You asked that very politely, Best wishes

Yes, a "Christian" is a follower of Christ. We believe in Jesus Christ, we believe He is the Savior of mankind, that He died on the cross, that He rose the 3rd day breaking the bonds of death so that we all might be able to also.
We believe differently about the Christ that most Christians believe. We believe He is a distinct person, not the same person as God the Father. That is the main reason most "Christians" do not consider Mormons Christian...because they think we believe in a "different" Christ, but we just interpret the Bible a little differently than they do.
We teach of Christ, we worship Christ, we love Christ, we learn of Him...we do everything we can to be like Him. I would think that would mean we are Christians in every way possible.
There is a wonderful talk given by Robert E. Wells, of the Quorum of the Seventy, called "We are Christians because..."
on lds.org...if you have the desire I suggest you read it. He lists several "reasons" we are Christians.

Yeah, no matter what other Christians say or believe, Mormons are Christians. We pray to God in the name of Jesus Christ. We believe in the trinity--God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost.

I would agree with you. Here is what I believe as a Mormon. I know that God lives. I know that Jesus Christ is my saviour and king. I know that only thru him can I be saved. I know that if I follow his comandments and his teachings contained in the Holy Scriptures, (the Bible and the Book of Mormon), repent of my sins and strive to be like him in everyway I may oneday stand with him again and spend eternity in my Heavenly Fathers Presence. So yes I believe in Christ. I accept his divinity and the nessecity of his atonement. I am a Christian. I am a Mormon.

mormons can not be christians and here is why...
they believe false teachings and do not believe everything that is in the bible. they beleive there are many gods not just one, they believe they can become god, which the bible tells us there is none before or after me. and they believe that th bible was not complete so some drunk guy wrote a book form stones out of a hat. christians accept christ into their heart. granted some mormons may have done this, and so they would be... however they are not living for god. if you are a christian then you believe and follow the bible. nothing else.

Mormons are not Christians because they do not worship Jesus Christ as God. They do not pray to Jesus, and they do not have a personal relationship with Jesus.

Look into this a little further and find out about the 1st Christians in the Bible who had the revelation that Jesus is God and they worshipped Him. Not so with the Mormons, they believe in a false Jesus and a false god.The Mormon Jesus is the brother of Satan, the Mormon god is the father of Satan - a man who supposedly exalted himself to godhood and is a polygamist on some far away plant conceving billions of spirit children with his wives. Mormons do not believe in the Christian Jesus of the Bible - Gordon Hinckley said so.

I am not Mormon, although I am presently reading the Book of Mormon (a complete waste of time and energy, by the way). It makes it clear that Mormonism does indeed purport to be Christianity.
