Then I could set it to beer and I wouldn't end up freezing the last 2 or 3 that I put in to chill.

1 - try your crisper drawer; it's not as cold as the rest of the fridge.

2 - if you put them in the freezer, set your oven timer, or another timer to remind you. My microwave has a timer I can set.

3 - if you are trying to cool them down really fast, put a plug in the sink, put ice in the sink and add a little cold water, then put the beer in the ice bath. It will chill them faster than putting them in the freezer - about 7 minutes from room temperature to super cold.

I always end up doing that too. I stick them in the freezer to chill quicker. By the time I get to the end of them I am too drunk to remember to take them out. Than they explode, what a waste.
