I am a 23 year old male. I smoked cigarettes and marijuana for 5 years; BUT, I have been cigarette free for 2 months and marijuana free for 2 and 1/2 weeks. I drink socially (2 or 3 times per week). The eye twitch and headache both started at the same time which is around 4 days ago 10/14/2006. I have also been having some mild sensitivity to light. Today is 10/18/2006, at first I thought it may be my system adjusting to the lack of chemicals; but, as time progesses, I am becoming increasingly worried that it may be a more serious condition. Also, I have been steadily taking a multi-vitamin, a vitamin C supplement, and a magnesium supplement to aid my system in getting rid of the toxins. At this point I am confident in saying that all of the nicotine and THC is out of my system. I stopped taking the magnesium about a week ago supplement as it was causing me to have mild mood swings.

I have had it, and it is very common. Few go through life without experiencing eye twitching or spasm. Usually confined to the lower lid of one eye, but sometimes two. Medical term is myokymia, caused by Tiredness, Eye Strain, Caffeine, and Allergies. Can last from 2 days to 3 weeks. Mine was definitely caused from allergies, but a lack of sleep does it too. The best thing is lights out and relax the eye, eliminate excessive reading, and try some good R & R. It is annoying and rubbing the eye will often make it worse.

I get this same problem when I am extremely over tired or if I don't where my glasses. Do you buy any chance where glasses? Cos it sounds like you might need an eye test as your probably straining your eyes. I'm sure that it is nothing serious and may not have anything or little to do with the giving up of smoking. My mum and my brother both get the same thing. I'm sure if you get an eye test and some good sleep that your problem will go away. I hope this info is useful.

You are still in withdrawl.. nicotine is a very powerful drug and the physical addiction will take many more months to overcome.. if you do at all. With both of them, you will always have a emotional craving.

I would stop taking those vitamins.. Try eating foods with those vitamins instead as your body can better digest the foods and the vitamins gained that way are better used by your body..

I suspect that you might be having cluster headaches which usually effect one side of the head and one eye. Also you might be experiencing the pain at the same time of the day

Keep up the good job regarding staying away from cigarettes and marijuana. They destroy your whole body much faster than you can ever imagine.

First of all, congratulations. I admire your courage. You'll look back and realize this is th best thing you've ever done for yourself. When your eye twitches, see whether it's been particularly stressful that day or week or if you're especially fatigued and if you've over used your eyes. I sincerely doubt you have any serious condition. You've been steadily feeding your system and it feels deprived. But that will soon pass.

This is normal due to coming off of the chemicals. What has happened is it is causing you to have slight migraines from the withdrawls. You can take an over the counter migraine med such as Excedrine migraine to alleviate the symptoms. This will relax the nerve in your head. If the symptoms don't stop, then you need to see your doctor. Don't worry. THis is very common.

hey i genuinely wouldn't worry about this too much,to be honest it sounds like a trapped nerve in your eye thats causing the twitching,i get that sometimes plus i get the sensitivity to light and headaches when i'm stressed, are you worried about anything?do you feel quite stressed?i'm not a dr,so if you're symptoms get any worse or you're paranoid about them, dont hesitate to go to your gp,take care.

Its probably not related to you giving up smoking anything, I get a twitch in my eye very often, usually when stressed or tired, nothing to worry about.
