Wrestler. They're very strong and fast so it's not like TKD sparrer can simply kick them to stop them. Also by kicking a wrestler, it give wrestler better chance to take TKDist down. Ground fighting is NOT something you can become lucky at so wrestler have knowledge while TKDist have absolutely no idea of what to do on ground.

Any wrestling system will have an advantage against tkd. Simple fact is that unless the tkd guy has any grappling background he will not avoid the shoot (your question did not say that he did, so I'm going on the premise that he does not), and will loose once the fight goes to the ground. The tkd guy's training is completely nullified once that happens. Even though a "wrestler" doesn't train in submissions (as inferred from the question) they will put the tkd guy at a disadvantage that they will not be able to effectively defend themselves.
There is nothing in tkd's repetiore to defend against a shoot. If the tkd guy isn't able to ko the wrestler with the first shot- its over for the tkd guy.
ALSO a hugely important overlooked fact is that most wrestlers (if we are presuming folkstyle, freestyle or greco roman) are in remarkable shape and condition. The wrestler would therefore be likely in far far better condition than the tkd guy.

I'm actually both. I used to compete in international tae kwon do tournaments and have one first place several times. But I'm also a highschool wrestler and school has forced me to settle down a bit. In a stereotypical sense, I believe a wrestler would most definately win. Wrestlers have a powerful body with a very strong neck who is used to getting pummeled at. In tae kwon do, a sparrer will make space constantly to give him enough room to kick. Wrestlers are the exact opposite. They will continuously close the gap. If wresters keep moving in tae kwon do fighters will never be able to land a successful kick. Once taken down, they would be defenseless. I'm not taking anything away from tae kwon do though. I'm a tae kwon do practitioner myself and I know what high leveled fighters can do. But I don't think the style of tae kwon do can match the brutal force and continuous agression that wrestling brings.

Well yes it may depend on there level of skills and experience, but technically i would say the Wrestler is most likely to win, Bruce Lee also said this, he though some wrestling himself too, now in my 9 years of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experience we have had several seminars in our school with different type of martial artist , yes..and all level even a 5th degree black belt from TKD, after there demo we asked them to fight us using there skills and us with our own, and guess what? NONE and i mean NONE of them were able to beat us...we had a 13 year old green belt fight with a 15 year old 2nd degree black belt TKD and that TKD kid went home crying to mama, we asked them he he would like to join use next time and he said"hell no"..heheheh anyways thats just a lil story but true.

I would put my money on the Wrestler. I would say 8 out of 10 times the wrestler would win (and that is being generous to the TKD guy). Because it's easier for a wrestler to take a person to the ground (and once he is here the TKD has no chance) than it is for someone trained in TKD to land a good enough kick or punch to knock out the wrestler. A wrestler will gladly take a punch or kick to get someone on the ground. (unless it knocked them out doing so of course but that isn't likely to happen)

A lot of Taekwondo schools will also teach ground fighting to make a student a more well rounded in self-defense. If the TKD Students also knows ground fighting then I would place my bet on Taekwondo. Wrestles normally will only follow the rules of wrestling and Ground fighting is a whole different story. The best positions in Wrestling is the worst postion in Ground Fighting
If not it all depends on how good each person is and how well each person is trained. If the TKD Student can keep their distance they would win, if the wrestler can get them to the ground I would say they would win.

i assume you mean if they are of equal size and strength and talent in their respective styles? All else being equal, if the taikowndo can keep his distance and kick the wrestler into submission he would win, if the wrestler gets close enough to grapple with him, the wrestler would probably win. Id put my money on a good wrestler most of the time.

Taekwondo teaches distance with the apponent, while the wrestler MUST be close to do anything... I would say it would be interesting.... if the wrestler didnt get knocked out, then he had a chance..... if the TKD guy didnt get tackled, then he had a chance... its up in the air....
also... you said wrestling.... which doesnt teach you how to finish a fight seeing as it is a pure sport system...
EDIT: Pay attention people... he didnt say BJJ.... he said wrestler.... as in highschool and college? they dont strike... so effectivly they are even when it comes to punches on the ground since neither trains that... you can't pin and win!

I think the taekwondo sparrer will win, they always keep their distance and their speed is super fast. And wrestler are mostly big-sized and would not be able to catch up.

No this is one of those questions where everyone likes to say this is better or this is better. Why are these type of questions even asked. It always, always depends who is more dedicated and skilled in there own art. No one is ever equally matched there is someone out there with a little bit of a edge. now whoever it was that said taekwondo is just a Olympic Sport and thats why they would not win. Well guess what so is wresling. Unless it is WWE.
