They've answered the question on Access, but Outlook allows to you use all of you Word features such as custom dictionary, fonts, and word processing functions. I love it!

Access is a database management program. Sort of similar to a spreadsheet, but with the ability to maintain many data sources and to make reports and queries on the sources.
Outlook is an e-mail, contact manager, scheduler program for personal productivity.

Access makes and views databases. I'm taking a class on it right now. It's pretty easy and useful once you get the hang of it. A database in case you didn't know stores and organizes large quantities of information.
Outlook is just the default e-mail program for Microsoft computers.

outlook is an email client, which is diferent from a HTML-BROWSER-BASED email program which of course you view through your browser. outlook is a software acting independently from your browser that can receive and send emails as well. i never use it though.
outlook is a database management program. you might use this a lot at work (though i prefer sql or foxpro)
