The 'crystal' varieties of cat litter seem to do an excellent job of controlling odour. It a;0s1p

...it also doesn't get tracked around much.
Downside: it won't last a month as claimed; little flecks of turd too small for the scoop will remain -- and, given the colour, be obvious. If you're willing to spend the money on changing it more often, though, I think it's best for the smell and tracking. Caveat: this advice is from a one-cat household.

I second the vote for Arm & Hammer, if you're looking for a clumping litter. It clumps harder & the clumps hold together longer than any other brand I've tried - a must if you're lazy about scooping, like I am. It's good at odor control too, although it does have a bit too much of a perfumey smell for my taste. Better than the alternative, though.

I like the Arm & Hammer brand best. It comes in different sizes of boxes that are easy to open and pour. It clumps so it's easy to dispose of. This also makes it easier for the cat not to track all through the house. It comes in Fragrance Free.
I've tried every brand out there and found this to be the most effective.

the best litter is fresh step. And if you go to pet smart with a pet smart card you get a 21-30 gal. for just $10.00. If there's a pet smart near you. They also have weekly sale on some of the best cat food 33 cent or lower for can and low prices for other cat foods. you sign up for the pet smart card there and you get it the same day

Fresh Start has granules in it, which may be some type of odor fighter- they are blue.
You can also mix some baking soda in it.
We go to Pets Mart and buy the orange spray can odor eliminator. One spray of that in the litter box, eliminates all of the odor and makes the whole first floor smell good. Remember- only one spray! It costs about $9.00, but is worth it.

I like the Sam's Club brand best or Fresh Step w/cedar. Sam's is cheaper, though.
