Just read in a magazine about a man who had his leg amputated and the doctor asked him if he would like to keep it and he agreed? Has anyone else ever kept anything like this??

He actually kept the leg in the freezer, and the story was in take a break last week if you want to have a read of it. He tried to sell it on the australian version of ebay but the cops stopped it.

When the Body Parts Scandal broke a few years back people all over the country were turning up at hospital labs asking for their bits back, some even asked if they could have their appendix back, so now I suppose hospitals have to ask patients if they want to keep their parts, lol.

In general, you aren't permitted to keep body parts. Theres a bit of a public health concern associated with having human parts in formaldehyde floating around somebody's home.

The magazine article probably wasn't true, but if it was its an anomaly. You aren't even allowed to keep your wisdom teeth.

My wife tells me the story of a woman she knew who kept her dead husband when he died! She swears it's true. Apparently he was not a nice guy and the widow had him preserved and kicked him every time she walked past. Don't know how long she kept him for. The idea appeals to my sense of poetic justice but perhaps my wife trying to tell me something?

Yup. My friend kept what was left of her finger that the doc had to cut off because she got frost bite. She wears it as a good luck charm. The doc says she was lucky in that she did not lose her whole hand.

I've never heard of that before, I would probably think that the doctor was pulling his leg..............however if it is true then maybe you could find out his shoe size and maybe I could sell him a slipper

Probably not. Who wants to keep an old limb that's just getting old and smelly. Unless, they preserve it, but then what's the point in keeping it.

Not me, but I have thought about taking my dog to a taxidermist when he dies, but then it would be like he was comatose all the time.
