My mate (Nameless), did a bit of pointing for the Duke up at the Manor and being short of cash, the Duke gave him a painting, 'Woman by the window' by Vermeer, but my mate won't go on the Antiques Road Show in case they don't believe him.

That is just too funny for words. What do you think that we all sit by our computer with "STUPID" written on our foreheads? Go to the road show I think it would be a hoot

He could always try taking it to different galleries and asking their opinion - or better still, how about asking the Duke for a provenance - that would go a long way to not only proving it was the real thing ... but that he came by the painting honestly!......

There are so many 'Woman by the Window' by Vermeer, doing various things.

However, since none are missing from Museums - perhaps you can get on with the rest of your life !

If it's a print it's worth around $150. If it's the real deal, it's a phony because the real one is hanging in a gallery
