Because we are better people than those who follow that perception of war. We as a nation choose to help rebuilt a country that has been devastated by war for longer than our occupation. While at the same time trying to control the volatile situation that has existed since Saddam's reign. Just for the benifit of those who answer this question, why don't you tell us what you really know about war? When did you serve in the military while it had these views of what should happen during war? I can't think of any war since before WWI when that kind of stuff happened. When you can back up your claim of what the rules of war are you can join the adults, until then why don't you go back to the kiddie table.

Because in the past no body mingled in the business of other countries. Nowadays, you are pressured all over. So, you can not invade a country and enslave it`s natives anymore, cuz the other countries will unite against you. We have developed in a way... a little bit, still it`s something.
BTW, don`t worry about expences. USA can afford this war, you are rich and fat too

Learn your history. We rebuilt Western Europe and Japan after WWII. The spoils of war is an archaic concept

This is not your typical war. And even in WWII we paid to rebuild all those countries-- ever hear of the Marshal plan?
Oh, but with Iraq, the Oil money was supposed to pay for rebuilding. Yeah, right. We'll never see a penny of that.
Remember, Billions of your tax dollars (oh, about 9 Billion) have gone missing. Thanks Paul Bremer, bush and all the retards running this war.
Just think of all the intelligence, interdiction and disruption of terrorist networks we could have gottne for the 300+ billion we've spent on a stupid war.

That's because there are no real rules.
The old adage is:
all is fair in love and war.
