I don't know of any vets that will crop ears after a dog is 12 weeks old..By 12 weeks, the ear cartilage is too set to ever get them to stand up, so they just look silly, pointy and flopping...
Only man would have the vanity to believe that he can improve on God's blueprint of dogs , created with ears and tails..
I used to breed Dobermans, but finally became just too disgusted to keep on having these precious puppies mutilated....

I really don't think cropping ears are cruel. I compare it to, and put it in the classification as humans having plastic surgery. Just make sure the vet has a lot of experience and knows what he's doing. Maybe he could even give you references of previous pets he has done. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on a subject as this. Good luck and I hope every thing works out well for you no matter what you decide.

Your regular veterinarian would be the right place to go, they have the reasons as to whether or not it is a good idea. The cost is usually $80 to $250.
Here is a site answering the questions of how it does or doesn't affect your dog. Please check it out before making your desicion.

Why does your dog need surgery.
It has its ears for a reason.
I hope you do not feel the need to get rid of it because you feel embarrassed it has the wrong shaped ears if you do you are a very sorry person.
Be happy with your dog what ever shape its ears.

If you didn't like your dog the shape God made it, you should have got a different type.
Would you like your ears cropped, because someone else wanted you to look different???
It's a sick, cruel and unneccessary practice.

I don't think veterinarians do that anymore.....and if you do it yourself, plan on going to jail, and having your dog taken away.....how would you like to have your ears cut and wrapped and have no pain killers........Try it, than you might change your mind about having your dogs ears done.

Just call around to you vets, and tell them what breed he is, and what you want done, They can tell you if they do it or not, and if not, they can tell you who to go to. Good luck, and find a good vet to do it..
