Do you think if I put vodka in a water bottle that they will check to see of its water?

No they won't. My family sneaked lots of bottles of wine and champagne in their suitcases and then when I was in Puerto Rico we went through the ship's bag check (which is similar to the screening machines used at airports), and we snuck 3 bottles of Bacardi 151 that we bought at the Bacardi factory in and they never knew. Plus we spoke to other people that had snuck bottles in too...U definitely should be good if you sneak it in on a water bottle just to be extra precautious, I actually met some dude that did that too...Good luck and have fun...I know I did on the cruise that I just came back from...Oh and I went on a Royal Carribbean cruise and if you bought alcohol duty free or anywhere on the trip, they tried to take it from you until you get off the ship and they were definitely not allowing you to have any drinks whatsoever unless you their overpriced drinks from them...So sneak sneak away and I hope you dont get caught....

You can buy a bottle of vodka on the ship, you just have to pay an additional fee for consuming it on the ship. We bought a pretty good sized bottle of rum on our last cruise and I thinnk it was about 20 bucks. We bought it at one of the bars and not the liquor store on board.

You are allowed to bring wine on most cruises.

But to answer your question. Go for the water bottle thing. You could even pack a bottle of vodka in your luggage. I think they are too busy to notice at embarkation to worry about who does and doesn't have liquor in their bags. They are definitely more strict at the ports of call.

Can only answer for NCL Cruises. Got caught twice trying to get booze onboard both the Spirit and the Dawn. They checked our water bottles. Any bottle that has been *cracked* open, gets checked. Then taken away from you.
Tried in the luggae last time, it was seen when put through x-ray, taken again.

The best thing to do is buy a pint bottle (or mineatures) and pack it in your checked luggage with your toiletries; clean the label off the bottle. Or pout the liquor in a flask and pack it. Do not try to carry it on as every thing that you carry on goes through an xray machine, just like at the airport. Also, you CANNOT buy liquor at the ship's duty free shop and carry it to your room. They will require you to pick it on on the morning that you leave ship.

At one port stop we bought some minatures in a liquor store and carried them back on ship in a purse and fanny pack. I guess they were not big enough going through the scanner for them to suspect them as liquor.

If you like wine for your stateroom, you can order wine from the ship's gift list. I did that on a cruise I just completed. The wine is like $25 a bottle or more, but at least you can have it in your stateroom.legally. I put a comment in the evaluation survey that they should let folks buy liquor for their cabin. The drinks on ships are expensive, but worse they don't have much alcohol in them. Most of the frozen drinks that they push, they bring the liquor on the side and then pour it in when you purchase.

As much as I cruise, I do it all the time with vodka and have never had a problem with packing it in my luggage - not my carry-on. A friend of mine does it with bourbon in a Coke bottle.

No, I don't think they will. What is the worst thing that could happen? They dump it out? The prices for alcohol is ridiculous on cruises so I would definitely give it a shot.

its 50/50. If you really want to be sneaky, glue the seal back on the water bottle so they cant tell. Then you're good to go. use a big water bottle.

I know a few people that go on cruises every year and they take alcohol with them every time. They just pack it in with their clothes.

I would not do that. They have a right to send you packing for not following policy. You can take alcohol onboard most lines, you just can not consume it onboard.

If you are to cheap to buy the stuff onboard maybe you should not be taking a cruise then or don't drink at all.
