from what I have been told you need to go to the Department of motor Vehicles that is the place where you register cars etc and get your tags .. tell them about it and you pay a fee .to get the last known person's name addrress etc. that owned it you then have to send them at least 2 letters tell ing them to remove the car and ( depending on where you live you could possibly charge storeage fees .. ) or if the do not remove car in 30 to 90 days (depending on where you live again ) that the car is to be sold at auction or lien sale etc. after all this you take proof that you tried to contact car owner and what happen file out a paper they give you telling all this and time lengths etc. then when the DMV ( department of motor Vehicles .. says it is ok then you get it...ever state may be different...

If the car is abandoned, he should call the local police to see what the requirements are to have it towed. In most areas, the private property owner can have a vehicle removed from their property, but you want to be sure that you follow the law.

It is possible that the car is stolen, or there is a problem with it.

Each state is different, but if the car was just left on the lot, it is doubtful you can get a title.

You must call an apraiser and get paper work from the DMV to get possession of the car. You have to show that the car was there and you did not receive compensation for the time the car has been on your property. (30 days or longer only).

Get in contact with an attorney to see what legal action you can take. That is your best bet.
