You may have been born Jewish but you're a Christian now if you believe that Jesus was the Messiah! Jews are still waiting for the Messiah.
Here is why real Jews think it's a bunch of bull:
Is Jesus referred to in the Torah?
Yes. Daniel (11:14) speaks of those who will “raise themselves up to establish the vision, but they shall stumble.” As Maimonides writes, “is there any greater stumbling then [Jesus’ endeavor]? All the prophets spoke of a Messiah who would redeem Israel, save them, gather their dispersed and strengthen the fulfillment of the Torah’s precepts. But he caused the destruction of the Jewish people by the sword and the dispersion and humiliation of the survivors. He also replaced the Torah and misled most of the world to worship a false god [i.e., himself]."
He is also alluded to in Deuteronomy 13:2:
"If there appears among you a prophet or a dream-diviner and he gives you a sign or a portent, saying, Let us follow and worship another god whom you have not experienced even if the sign or portent that he named to you comes true, do not heed the words of that prophet or that dream-diviner. For the Lord your God is testing you to see whether you really love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul. Follow none but the Lord your God, and revere none but Him; observe His commandments alone, and heed only His orders; worship none but Him, and hold fast to Him. "
And why wasn't Jesus the Messiah???
Maimonides writes (Laws of Kings 11:4) the criteria for identifying the messiah: "If a king will arise from the House of David, diligent in Torah study and the fulfillment of Mitzvot - of the written and Oral Law – like David his ancestor, and will compel all the Jews to go in its [the Torah's] path . . and builds the Holy Temple and gathers the Diaspora [to the land of Israel], this is certainly the Messiah."
Additionally, the Bible is replete with prophecies about the Messianic Era (see for example Isaiah 11) which were never realized.
To put it in simple words: If Jesus is the Messiah and this is what Redemption is all about -- who needs the Messiah? The Messiah I await will fulfill all the promises of world peace and global monotheism which are vividly described by the prophets.
Also, Judaism does not believe in the divinity of men nor can men be "sons of G-d." That is blasphemy (I love that word) and sin.
I respect Christians but don't you ******* DARE TRY TO PLAY OFF AS A JEW.

He didn't lie at all.
You said it all.
He came to die for our sins, was marred more than any man, (without a broken bone) He was despised, and rejected by His own people. The grace you mention, that Paul is talking about, is the Grace Jesus showed us by dying in our place. Faith, in what the Bible says, yes, but more importantly in who Jesus is, and what He did.
No one really debates whether or not Jesus was resurrected. Sure there are cultural differences, and skeptics, but it is generally accepted that Jesus rose from the dead.
No one else has ever done that, and no one else even said they would.
Did He lie? No, did He live? yes...and still does.

You don't know what Jesus said or didn't say. You weren't there. What you've chosen to believe in is not Jesus but a book claiming to be divinely inspired. Jesus didn't write any part of the New Testament, so your question has no practical premise.

fact is, jews up till the present, don't believe in jesus as the messiah, that's why their bible does not include the new testaments.
for the christians and muslims, jesus is the messiah, accepts that he is the way, the truth and the life. they only differed in the one making jesus God and the only way, and the muslims, accepts jesus as the second to the last prophet, mohammad.
As to other religion besides christianity, jesus is not lying when he said that, during his time. But he is indeed not the FINAL DESTINATION.

Jesus would not have lied, but the statement may possess subtleties too few are willing to accord it.
For instance, Gandhi was a great admirer of Jesus, even a follower in many ways... but he was not a Christian. He'd seen too much of the way British Christians conducted themselves to cross the sanctuary threshold so to speak.
So does that mean Gandhi is in Hell? Hardly! "No man comes to the Father but by me," Jesus said.
But in ways many of us can't claim, Gandhi certainly walked with Jesus, even if he was not aware of it. Jesus said, "I have other sheep, which are not of this fold." (John 10:16) It is not for us to say who those sheep are. Christ paid the price. Christ gets to say.

David,
You are a Christian. Stop this evil and deceptive form of missionizing. It degrades Christianity.

. It is, by definition, impossible for it to be "jewish" to believe in jesus. "Jewish" is, by defintion, what jews have historically and contemporarily believe. Since in neither scenario do we find "believing in jesus", then we must clearly realize that belief in jesus is not something "jewish". You can call it "biblical" (and still be wrong), but certainly not "jewish".
. On the side, the subject of Isaiah 53 is promised a "long life" and "seed" (i.e. physical children). Clearly this isn't about jesus.
. And Isaiah 7 is clearly not messianic if you read the whole chapter. and "alma" doesn't mean virgin either. You'd know that if you spoke hebrew (I guess learning basic hebrew wasn't part of your "extensive jewish upbringing", huh?)
. On the side, Isaiah 9 can't be about jesus since, according to christianity, he's the "son" not the "father" (as the verse states). Nor did he have control of the government (to the contrary, the roman government killed him). And he certainly did not establish "endless peace".

oh, and lastly, I've decided that you truly epitomize everything I find intensely intellectually unsatisfying about christianity.

He didn't lie. It's what PEOPLE said he said. They misintrepeted his message. He is the way the truth the life -- and so is the Buddha and anyone else who has the experience of God b/c they cease their identification w/ individuality/body and are then a reminder to the rest of us to do the same. And there is only ONE way -- to have the same experience they had (and they serve as symbols of that choice). But when we see ourselves as bodies and individuals, we make individuality real and perceive Jesus and others as being the special, only way. Difficult to get across....

You obviously love Jesus very much. How do you know anything he said in the Bible? DO not take anything at face value. The Bible was composed at the council of Nicea, 400 years after Jesus's death. Nobody knows what he really said...
