Help..I recently moved into a two bedroom house..I would like to have my room painted but not sure which color would go nice with espresso (dark brown..close to black) bedroom furniture..I am a quiet person and love peacefulness so I want something that reflects that..or maybe something colorful but very pleasing to the eye..I live close to home depot in bklyn..so any advice I would appreciate...thanks!!!

A red with a slight orangish tint, or a lighter green shade (not minty pastel though ) would look really good with very dark brown furniture. I have seen it done many times and love it. Then I would go with a kinda oriental theme, because that would look great with those colors. Get a bamoo plant, candles, a small fountain, and a few oriental pieces.

Blue is a calming colour so that might give yoiu the peaceful colour. But Im not sure it would go with your furniture (unless you paint it white and go for the scandinavian look!)

How about a soft vanilla or light cream colour, it would be warm and cosy, blend nicely with your furniture. You can keep the quietness you are looking for by not cluttering up walls and surfaces ... maybe one interesting framed print on the wall.

Darker or anything besides white will be harder to resell your property. So be sure to paint it back to white when you sell if you are trying to go for top dollar. Darker also makes the room harder to light. No problem if you just put more lighting in there....a little more energy cost. I would go with a lighter color or anything that matches your furniture.

Off color white can go well with the dark brwn furniture. Something with a hint of brwn or tan. Otherwise you're looking at like a shade of yellow or brown.

u can brighten it up if u like with a cream color r a darker beige family color. U could even try a soft golden color. If u want to go darker, u could do a deep blue, r even a deep berry wine red color. All u have to do is get coordinating color pieces like cushion pillows r curtains to match. Good luck.

You can go to the Behr website and choose the color you want and see what it looks like in different rooms. A very nice tool.

I do not represent the Behr company. My wife and I just use it to choose colors.

The home depot should have a Behr kiosk.

I always buy my bedding and comforter first. Then I pick a color from the bedding or one that's complimentary to paint the walls and trim. I love shades of turquoise and white with dark brown.

when decorating w/multi tones use a color wheel, on the wheel any color that is directly across from another will work well also any color that is directly beside that color is a winner. you can find a color wheel in any good decorating book.just find the color that is closest to your furnitures tone and go from there.
