Test Tube Experiments and Visuals for Pre-Scool Ages, please?
I have test tubes, and want to know what to make with them. Something like the oil water mix experiment, sink/float tube, or whatever else you think I can do....I have 20 test tubes to make different visuals...so if you have any that you know will interest a child - PLEASE let me know,Thanks so much!

I'm looking for something that I can just set out and looks cool - like glitter in oil, or something fun but not too teacher interactive. I want him to be able to make ideas about what's happening in the tube.

one of the most fun is use one full stalk of celery and split it up the middle and place each part into a tube with a different color of water (colored by food coloring) the celery will become the color of the water in which is sits in a few hours.
another one is to float or sink rasins-place the rasins (sorry cant remember if it is baking soda or something else) and watch the rasins float up on the bubbles
another is a little longer watch time but uses closed jars and make sugar or salt rocks. punch a hole in the lid and string a piece of twine in the hole with a knot, totally dissolve sugar or salt in water may need to boil it first, then allow the time for the water to evaporate as the crystals form on the string
also lots of fun to try changing the color of the water with food coloring or natural items like flowers, herbs, or other items.

there are tons of books out there and even websites with lots of other ideas like 1001 science experiments for young children, and any other preschool oriented science book. try your local library, or bookstore.

I taught preschool fpr 3 years and my classes LOVED this experiment!
I put some baking soda in the test tube and then poured in some vinegar it foams out everywhere so use small amounts. It is the same reaction as in a volcano eperiment! You can also color the vinegar!

put warm water in one tube and cold in the other. Drop in the same number of drops of food color into each tube. Ask the kids which will become x color sooner.....the warm or the cold tube? The one containing the warm water will disperse the color faster because the molecules are mving faster (thus making the water warmer).
