Yes it is. If you have silver fillings, then they are about 50% mercury. You should talk to your dentist about replacing them with something that doesn't contain mercury. They do have that.

the two dental professionals are correct in telling the public
that the silver filling will do little harm to a individual if left alone.the Ada does not recommend removal unless their is a reason to do so.this governing board does a lot of research so lets give them some respect
I'm a dental sales rep and have been in the industry for over 30 years if you think your solving some "true" medical issue and have proof that there is a reaction to mercury any dentist will be glad to remove them and replace them with resins or standard of care restorations
ah but here in lye's the real problem what 's in those little white filling if you did some research you may find that more toxic substances than mercury .so before you take out those little silver fillings learn about the materials that are used to replace them and there longevity.gold is the tried and true restoration ask your dentist today

Mercury is deadly to humans, but I don't know how much you need to be poisoned. Yes, there is mercury in fillings, and it can be bad if a person is particularly sensitive - and the mercury is released from deteriorating fillings.
I am fighting a systemic yeast infestation. According to the books I have read, yeast can flourish even more if the mercury is being released from fillings.
I will be getting mine replaced, as my dentist feels it necessary.

I've answeed this questions too many times...if you care to look...click on my name and search my previous answers....But if you don't want to wait...then:
YES, there is mercury in dental alloy (silver fillings) and Yes, mercury is bad for you and NO (for many reasons such as quantity and type and imperical data), mercury from dental alloy will not harm you.
If you still don't believe me then get them done in white...I make twice as much money...and those white resins...well...guess what...they don't last as long...so I can do them again and make more money (mo money mo money mo money...sorry bad "in living color" joke).
Tom is right...the American dental association states that they are safe. Any dentist who states differently is most likely from California or is selling something.

There is mercury in the amalgam (silver) fillings. I don't know the percentages, but most don't think it is harmful. I don't see that it is, unless maybe the filling was lose and you swallowed it. Most metals have to react with stomach acid to get into the body.

The amount of mercury that is in filling material is very small, no health issues have ever been reported from having fillings put in.

you have nothing to be worried about. the american dental association actually considers it unethical to tell patients that they need to have their silver fillings taken out and replaced with white fillings. trust me, i wish that something would come out that your silver fillings were killing you. think about how much money we as dentists would make! until that happens, if i need a filling on a back tooth, i'll take a silver filling please.
