If all of us are good than we would never feel guilt. If were are victims of circumstances than theres no need for Laws. If we are inherently good than we dont need a savior to save us from ourselves.

People who dont believe in Jesus Christ believe they are good people who dont need a savior but Jesus said "...no one is good but One, that is, God..." Matt 19:17 We need a savior and he died for us but we must accept this gift personally. Thanks and God bless.

Man is an evil thing....

It is not a question of 'are we good or are we evil'. Man is capable of both good and evil. Even Yshua ben Ysef taught this -- he didn't say man was evil, he said that god is the only thing that is ALL good.

Mankind would not have evolved as a social creature without an instinct for empathy and altruism, which form the core of every human morality on the planet. In some people, this instinct is muted; these are the sociopaths. In some people, this instinct is so overwhelming that they will do anything, including sacrifice themselves, for the greater good; the first example that comes to mind is the buddhist monks who incinerated themselves alive publicly to protest war.

Man needs law because an instinct towards empathy and altruism is a general and generic feeling. It does not tell me how I should respond to this situation or that situation. I may feel it is okay to steal because I know that the person will not greatly suffer for it, and I intend to give the bread stolen to a family who is starving to death -- but the shop owner will likely not see it that way. Fairness is in the eyes of the beholder. So we have to establish rules that say, "We as a society agree on these rules of fairness." By establishing these rules, we gain the ability then to say, "If you don't play by these rules, we are justified in punishing you." Hence morality becomes the foundation of what government is supposed to be. "Play fair and we'll leave you alone, we're only here to keep you guys from hurting each other."

Man is not good or evil, he is both, in differing measures.

Man, in general, is not inherently good, or evil. A man in particluar can be inherently evil, but no one lives in a vacuum so his friends and allies will think that he is good and the enemy/victims are the evil/pathetic ones. What did P.T. Barnum say again? He was talking about the human condition. Everyone is evil from someones point of view. God might be seen as evil for creating a lake of fire to throw anyone who doesn't toe-the- line. into.

Whether we are good or not, god will slaughter us at his whim:

Exodus 11:5 And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
11:6 And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
11:7 But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel

I am Egyptian, tell me how god loves me...

Well, why do people believe that man is inherently bad? I think the way we are is based on genetics and the environment we are brought up in (nature vs. (or with) nurture).

People who don't believe in Jesus also wouldn't believe the crap he said. So why would you feel the need to quote him?

Man is good in his heart, but the laws of nature compel us to do things which don't necisarily fit into Gods laws. Natural man/instinctual man is an enemy to God.....wheather you believe in evolution or natural selection or not....there is no denying that our bodies tell us what our minds can not....and the laws of God tell us that if the hand offend the spirit it would be better to cut it off than offend one of God's laws.

I don't belive man is good, same applies to women. There are countless things everyone does on a daily basis to prove me correct.

I don't need anyone to save me, truth is, I have to save myself. No one else will help us, we must step up and take charge. I refuse to believe in any God when they have not and cannot really do anything for me and my life.

The bible also said we were born in sin so we all need a savior to release us from the grips of sin.

I totally agree with you on this. I think people want to believe they are good so they can convience themselves they will go to heaven, when in reality like you said, there is no one good but God.

Like Anne Frank- after everything she had been through with the Nazis- she still believed people are good.
I kind of believe that most people are good- but still in need of a Saviour.
