If it's really that painful go to a podiatrist. If it was just torn back a bit and no bleeding try bandaging it back in place. Clean it with peroxide solution first. If you find you can't push it back in place cause it's too far off you really need a foot doctor or your own GP -Family Doctor. If you tear it off it may bleed excessively and get infected. Don't mess around with it. Infections in fingers and toes can turn into blood poisoning or worse!

Ive heard if you put a little hole in the toe nail it will get rid of that pressure feeling, if you tear it off it may never grow back

first of all i hope your not diabetic because if you are see a doctor right away and if the pain is that bad go see a doctor and get the medical attention you need and possibly some medication for the pain. pulling the nail would probably help relieve the pain but your opening it up for infection. seek medical advise if possible. look for free clinic in area if available.

As painful as it is (I had a cement mixer bar smack me on the toe) protect it and let it grow out.

no do not tear off the nail...the nail will fall off on its own.....if you tear it off you risk infection....if the nail is hanging...clip as much as possible then wrap it with a bandaid to keep it from catching on your socks......keep it clean trust me its best to let if fall off on its own
