Is that considered stealing if I come to know Christ through a stolen Bible?

Hell no!! I've got one room completely furnished with Gideon Bibles in my house; we glued them together to make furniture. We used to use empty cases of beer in the way back, but I don't drink anymore and the bottles did have a deposit value; so this works way better now. I didn't know you could come to know Christ through them as well, this is a real bonus!!!!!

I think that's why the Gideon's put it there. They had a booth once at my college, and someone asked a similar question and they said that their whole purpose is to give away Bibles, and that they personally hope that someone will draw closer to God by reading it. I think the other guy that was there handing them out said that he wished when they went by the hotels that they had to replace one in every room. So, I don't think it's stealing. The hotel didn't place the Bible in the room. They don't charge you for it if you walk up to the counter and tell them you're taking it. But they don't have the cleaning people throw it away when you leave the room either.

It's not stealing because the Gideons put it there for you. The WANT you to take it and read it!

One of the Ten Commandments is "Thou Shall Not Steal". So yes, you are not only stealing, but you are stealing a Bible!! Shame on you =)

no..
the gideons is an organization that gives out bibles..
they place them in there to be a resource for others!
if you can afford a bible....and really want one.....then i would probably buy one...

so i think its ok to take a bible to know Christ!
i would probably give one out to someone and buy another!lol

In a word? No.

This question is similar to asking a prisoner if he or she thinks it wrong to use the extra (blank) pages of the Bible to roll a cigarette with.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Remember the words of Jesus when He said, "Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden. Learn from me, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light".

As soon as I read the subject header of your post, I laughed! What a great conundrum when you consider "what" is being stolen! Hilarious!

I don't think it's stealing, since it's given to the hotels so people can read the word of God freely.

No it's not. I've been tempted to do so before, but didn't since I already have two Bibles at home.
