If the guy is as smart as people think he is, he sould be able to make a perfect argument that we would all accept, no?

Well when you put it like that it does sound rather unattractive. Still that's just a facet of what some people believe, it doesn't reflect my own belief about the One; it seems more of the old fire and brimestone way of thinking. Strange motivation to join a peaceful belief system, all this punishment and torment; heck; I had that when I was married the first and second time; I didn't need God chipping in too!! My word, what a funny old World it is.

Just a point of clarity. That is not an argument against the existance of God. Imagine if I said that because I don't agree with you that you don't exist. That makes no sense. Its the same thing with God. God's proposition makes perfect sense when you think about it. Hell is most likely just a place without God. And if you don't want him then that ( a place without him) would be just perfect for you. But if you do want him then heaven is a place with him. Once again a perfect place for you. When you get down to it your final destination is your decision. But you must make it and live with the consequences. Thats a part of being a grown up.

Ever hear of the saying "Your biting the hand that feeds you"?
If God is the creator of everything, don't you think that he deserves exclusive devotion? *(By the way - the bible doesn't say that God will make unbelievers suffer for eternity - he'll punish them, but there's no such thing as Hell the fiery place of torment - the bible says the wages sin pays is death - Romans 6:23, so if you're unrepentant, once you die you've paid for your sins) Example - if you had a dog that you've raised since it was a puppy, feeding him, housing him, etc.. If that dog attacked your child, wouldn't you immediately put that dog to sleep?

That actually sounds like a very abusive relationship I had once. I agree, why would anyone stick around for that? If a man said something like that he'd be condemed as abusive and locked up so why on earth would I believe in a "god" that says the same thing? Been there, done that.......

First off...God won't do any of the torture personally. In Revelations it says that your name will be striken from the Book of Life and you'll be sent to Hell. The torture will be conducted by Satan, his fallen bretheren, and demons. I believe the real torture would be knowing that no one in Heaven remembers you ever existed, not even your own children!!

That being said, according to the anthropamorphic Judeo-Christian depiction of God I'd say that God wants love and admiration as much as we do. Didn't we as children use threats to make other people like us? You know...the old "if you don't let me play with your toy I won't like you anymore" schtick.

Personally, I don't believe we were made in God's image at all but if the vast majority of people on Earth want to believe who am I to stop them?

By asking you to believe and repent, Jesus is trying to save you, not condemn you.

I know it most often comes across the way you have described. There are several ways most people turn to Christ; fear and disgust with their lives and potential disasterous afterlife, desperation and desire for real change in their life or the genuine trust and turning to the love of God.

The last way is worth looking into and trying to understand and explore if you aren't in place in your life for the others.

Peace!

You do not know the scripture or the Righteousness of God,When
God created man he gave him domain over all the earth and placed
him in a perfect environment with only one stipulation, rule, law to be
obeyed.Man was given the tree of life to enable man to live for eternity
in fellowship with his father God.God could have made robots but God
wanted someone to Love Him Back out of his own choice(is what I
believe ).We know what happened satin DECEIVED EVE and Adam choose to disobey (I believe because Adam had a perfect LOVE for Eve and Adam knew that God would make away to redeem all mankind when he choose to sin)Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
People have got it all back wards is IS SATIN that is the problem not
God because God has done all he can do to redeem mankind when he
sent his Only Begotten Son to shed his own BLOOD to save all
mankind and give them ETERNAL LIFE with no worry of anybody being DECEIVED AGAIN.What a wonderful God we have!!
Satin is the author of all sickness, death, hatred, rebellion and turmoil
today.God is responsible for ALL GOOD THINGS healing, hope and all
humane treatment and disaster relief.Thank God that he is not changeable the same today and forever.
It was NOT Gods Wish that man came under condemnation but
because The Righteousness of God DEMANDS SIN BE PUNISHED. If
God were to have let sin go without punishment He would no Longer Be Righteous or God.
Like in the beginning Satin is deceiving multitudes to go to Hell Please don't believe Satin and come to Jesus and be Born of God to
receive Eternal Life.

Joh 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. To God Be The Glory!!
In Christ in Love,

The teaching of a fiery hell isn't found in the Bible. "Everlasting destruction" (2 Thess. 1:9) simply means being destroyed forever. There's nothing in there about torment. This teaching dishonors God and makes Him look cruel. Satan propogates this teaching through false religion to alienate people from God. Satan is the king of propoganda.

No where does God say that. There are many who believe in God. The Bible says "even the demons believe - and tremble!"

We don't go to hell because we don't believe in God or Jesus. We go to hell because of sin.

And I direct my love toward God because he has been so kind to save us from Hell. He didn't have to do it but he did.

The bottom line is that there are those who go to hell because of their sin. But God made a way out and unless they repent of sin and put their trust in Jesus to save them they will end up there.

I wouldn't and won't. You are right. And for everyone giving the "but heaven is great, just believe" line, I can't. Knowing that this being allows his creation to be tortured for eternity would weigh on my mind too much.
