okay, the hairstyles you've already thought of are fine. those are the basic hairstyles that all other hairstyles are based on. try changing the part you do at the front, and ur accessories. for example, a half-up with a claw clip looks way different from a half-up with a scrunchie.
1. messy bun. mess it up gently, tho
2. a low ponytail, with ur bangs tucked behind ur ear or kept out of ur face with a barrette
3. a mid-level ponytail with a straight, off-center part
4. low pigtails
5. a low braid with an elastic band at the end to keep it in place. u can put barrettes in if u want.
basically, all u need to do is think of all the basic hairstyles you listed in ur question and think of all the different things u could possibly do with one hairstyle. u can braid parts of the front of ur ponytail for a really trendy hairstyle.
i thought of all the hairstyles i could do with a ponytail (not counting half-ups) and i got 30!
because i counted the part and the hair accessories as part of the hairstyle. don't do it all at the same time, tho. after u write down the hairstyles it will be easier to organise them. what i mean by don't do them at the same time is: there are five days in the school week, so day 1-ponytail#1
day2-half-up#1
day3-ponytail#2
day4-let-down style#1
day5-low pigtails
day 1 of next week-half-up#2
and so on... :)

Depends how long your hair is.
Try semi drying (so it loses potential fluffiness) and tying into a bun over night. In the morning you wake up to soft natural looking curls.. Once the bun is undone of course!

How about some different hats?
Or swept to the side in a ponytail, in bunches (but only if your are under 21), experiment with some funky hairbands and clips from Accessorize or for cheaper versions - Clire's Accessories.

Go to ivillage and you can look at hair styles that celebrities have and there is a virtual hairstylist. The other ideas I have is getting a headband, wearing your hair pin straight, curly.

what about curls? i wouldn't worry too much about trying loads of styles- just go with what suits you and what is comfortable and easy to do- you don't want to spend your whole night out worrying about it coming undone!
