I am wondering what the rationale is for this if there are women ministers in your Church as the Bible clearly says NO. How can it be Bible only but not Bible only--really interested in explaination.

For some reason, I noticed that most of the people who replied seem to be dancing around the problem instead of giving you a straight answer.

The real problem with a church having woman pastors is 1 Timothy 2:11-15 (among others already mentioned by some other responders) where Paul seems to say that it is wrong for women to have spiritually authority over men. Most fundamental congregations, such as the Southern Baptist Convention, interpret this to mean that a woman cannot hold a position such as head pastor where she is teaching a mixed congregation of adult males and females (teaching a Bible class of only women, or women and children is usually seen as OK).

II was honestly wondering how other congregations deal with these passages, or what their interpretation or rational might be, but all you are getting is a bunch of baloney about how the Bible never says anything about this (not true), or that the Bible is unclear (without explaining what exactly is unclear). These are the same excuses that liberal Christians use to justify everything from homosexuality to no-fault divorce to just about any other sin that one can imagine.

No one is perfect, but what's the point of having a Bible if no one is going to at least try to follow it?

-----------------------
1 Timothy 2:11-15 (NIV)
A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

I believe that God looks at the heart, not at whether it's a man or a woman. I've seen women minister and afterwards many people accepted Christ as their savior, and I have personally been blessed and encouraged to serve God by the message delivered by a woman, is God somehow unhappy with that?

Now if a woman is only ministering because she thinks that men are inferior to women or some other selfish or feminist reasons, that's a different story.

The only Bible verses that I'm aware of are dealing with one particular church and a problem that they were having. Most people miss the point that Paul's letters were directed at specific churches with specific problems.

How can we all be called ministers of reconcilliation? Because in Gal. the word says we are all equal in Jesus. There are many women in the bible that are ministers.

prisicilla, lydia, mary at the tomb. the 4 prophetessess.

I believe that there are women ministers and they are bible correct.

you should have stated this verse. These people have no idea what is in there.

1 Corinthians 14:34-36
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

1st tim 2 11-15 backs this up too.

The Bible doesn't say no. It says that the husband is the head of the household (including the spiritual leader).
A woman can be a minister so long as it is clear that her husband is still the spiritual leader of the household.

In all actuality, even the most "stringent" of Bible believers disagree about its accuracy, and therefore relevance, at some point or another. Without going into semantics, and therefore descend into gossip; it is suffice to say the school of thought that subscribes to the scenario of women preachers stems from the prophetess Phoebe, Prisca and Aquila, who are named by the apostle Paul in Roamns, chapter 16. To quote from that great movie "To sir with love" starring Sidney Poitier, "As we as we are learning [about the Bible], who cares who is doing the teaching?"

A question for us all to ponder, when in meditation of this concept:

How old was David when he killed Goliath?

The reason why I think this question is appropriate is, for me at least, it reminds me that even though in the world eyes a person may not be qualified, they are still nonetheless qualified in the eyes of God. Therefore who are we going to rely upon: the eternal or the temporary?

My church does not & have never let a woman preach. We don't believe in a woman preacher. We do believe that God can give a woman one of the 9 spiritual gifts of the Holy Ghost, Like tongues, Prophecy, But not that of the highest calling which is the ministry

My answer is going like this : Why do people always want to do the things their way instead of accepting the rules and principles to govern according to our father's and creator's laws?
I think it's a little too much like that,i do think it's time for every one of us to respect our creator, to see things his way, It's time to stop fooling ourself for what...?
