Okay, learn the following mantra: "Tickets (or copy of E ticket), Passport, money, insurance document" repeat it and make sure these items are always exactly where you know they are art all times. The rest is unimportant. If something gets forgotton, you can buy it, if it gets lost, it's insured. Now, if you are really unsure (and airports can be quite hectic) telephone the airline you are travelling with and ask for a "Meet and Assist" (MAAS in airline terms) Not all airlines do this but most do. When you check in tell the clerk you have asked for a Meet and Assist. Generally, they will then ask you to stand to one side and they will then get a member of the airline ground staff to go with you (don't be surprised if you find yourself with the unaccompanied minors and a few others). Now, if you are aged up to 12 you must be an unaccompanied minor, aged up to 18 your parent (s)/ guardian can request that you travel as an unaccompanied minor or UNMNR aka Unmin. To be an unmin, you MUST notify the airline in advance as they only take so many unmins on each flight.

Flying to and from where?
In general, you will need to arrive at the airport an hour before your flight for domestic and 2-hours before for international but 2-hours is best for both if possible so you are not rushed and that means inside the airport not outside looking for parking or something. You need this time to get checked in, get through security, get to the gate, and make any necessary pit stops.
Check in at the counter for your carrier or at one of the self-kiosks if you have an e-ticket. Put your boarding pass if provided at that time somewhere safe, you will need it to get on the plane. Also check in again at the gate at least 30-minutes before the flight.
Be prepared to be searched going to the gates so make sure you know if there is something not allowed to save yourself time. Look at the screens and signs or ask anyone in uniform where the gate is, checking in at the gate also confirms you are in the right place.
If you are over 18, you could also ask if they have an upgrade list and if there is any chance you are eligible to be placed on it, if yes and there are open seats in first class you might get bumped up. If you are under 18, behave yourself on the flight, they can and will remove you for causing trouble or incur consequences upon arrival.
Boarding usually starts 20 minutes before flight time and closes 5-minutes before flight time, plus if you are not checked in at the gate 10 minutes before they can give your seat away to a standby. So pay attention to the time. If you miss your flight, not every carrier will honor the ticket for a later flight.
If seats are assigned look for your seat and put everything in overhead bin or under seat for take off. If it is a domestic or short haul flight, some amenities may be provided but at fee. For international and long haul flights, these are often provided free of charge.
When deboarding, first rows go first so just relax if you are in the rear till they move along. Look at signs or ask where the baggage claim is and stand by carousel for your flight. For an international flight, you will have to go through customs first and show your passport and answer some questions.
A neck pouch is a good idea for documents and valuables. Have fun!

I and my sister have several times flown to iceland by ourselves. If you are a minor everything is kept in side a packet around your neck. IF you are not you hang on to all the forms ex. passport ect on your self (pockets or hand luggage). No worries. If your parents bring you to the air port you could probably convince one of the gaurds to allow you and your parent(s) to go with you to the plane(obviously not in the plane) it took forceful arguing in my case but its not always that way. Enjoy your trip.
PS It would be much appreciated if you gave out the Best Answers award. I don't mind if you dont give one to me but it would be much appreciated
