I read a Time magazine article about a college in Pakistan that is basically run by an Islamic student group and they punish other students for kissing or flirting on campus because it is "immoral". Please explain why these acts are considered immoral.

exactly.. anything outside of marriage is IMMORAL.. not other relationship outside of marriage is allowed in Islam.. n this is for the BETTERMENT OF THE SOCIETY... n this is the reason why muslim countries have the least divorce rates, family problems, STD'S etc....
Islam does not allow the girlfriend boyfriend thingy.. n thats why our societites r much much better than the western ones.. here we have great family values.. i dont mean to offend anybody here... but its the truth... we know that our parents r true to each other... thats why we have stable families:)

Islam doesn't forbid love because it's a feeling towards a person. But Islam forbids actions which are done due to love and affair such as talking alone, touching, kissing etc. In today's world it is very hard to find love without such acts. In most cases so-called love affairs lead to those activities. And eventually physical relationship before marriage, which is forbidden in all major religions.
Islam enjoins purity, thus Islam encourages marriage. Kissing and flirting is immoral in Islam, and it also depends on culrure. It is possible that a Christian husband would accpet his wife even knowing that she had sexual relationship with someone else. But I don't think a proper Muslim would ever accept that.

I read the article too. The problem is that we learn about other cultures through biased media and try to compare with our own local cultures and morals. You asked this question because you thought it is immoral based on allowence or practice of kissing, flirting in our colleges here in the US which you think is moral. If they think it is immoral, let them do so. Why do we have to butt in every culture and problem outside.

in islam there are some things that real muslem do them one is man should not touch a woman he jast can touch his mother sister wife daughther and ... and it is better for them

well it is considered immoral to have any sexual contact in public.
i don't think they punish them physically rather with a suspension .
Question for you, when you see people making out in the street dont you hear other people telling them to get a room?

Passanger and Zubayr are staggering. If u miss any of the 5 prayers in basic terms bc u did not sense like praying on the time, u are a kafir until eventually u pray back and repent. i imagine I examine no longer praying is between the accurate 5 sins in Islam.

cos God says so. anyways It may lead into corruption (for example pre-marsial sex) if it is not stopped.But I really don't believe they would punish them physically.even in Iran we don't have such a thing cos 99.99% of people have faith and self-control.
