He's interested in what's going on and knows he is being kept out of something. We had 28 Labs who weighed 70 lbs or more, two cats that we got as kittens and a white lop eared rabbit who all coexisted and played together. The trick is to introduce them slowly in a controlled setting so you can monitor if anybody gets too aggressive. Let them get use to each other while you are present. Cats are really very good at teaching dogs that they will only interact when the cat wants to and what levels of interaction they will tolerate but the kittens need to get bigger before they are OK with this. We have had many species live together for years and years and they have done fine as long as you make them all aware that they must be good to each other.

You just have to be careful that he is not alone with them, a lot of male dogs will become territorial and eat small kittens and puppies. He may not be agressive towards them, he might just be curious and want to play or be protective of them. The best thing to do is to keep them separated until you know for sure, and never leave them alone or let them out of your sight when they are together.

Well, I can tell you that he is very curious......when the kittens meow, does he look towards the door and tilts his head? If he does than that is a sure sign of him being curious as to what it is that is in that closet......You can take a kitten out of the closet and show him.....If he shows any aggression towards the kitten take the kitten out of his sight and discourage his action by telling him no. But if he sees the kitten that your holding and sniffs it, he may nudge it with his nose, he's just doing that out of curiosity. He may continue to do this for awhile......try it out and see what happens...Good Luck.

He is just curious to know whats on the other side of the door. He has smelled a new scent in house and just wants to know whats going on. It would be best to let him see the kittens with you there to supervise so that he will get to know them.

He's just curious. And protective of momma cat.
Don't worry, she will let him see the kittens when she is ready. It will be another week or two.

I got a kitten last year. My Akita thinks that she is his mother. They are very sweet together. Nobody will harm a hair on that cat's head!
Here are some pics of them together.
