I know in the Bible that it says that God put the plants on the earth for us to use, but not in excess.
I know that smoking is not good for our body, but I wanted to know where in the Bible it says not to smoke. If you grow your own tobacco then you would know what chemicals you put in it and it would be pure tobacco, not additives in it.
I just wanted to know if it stated it in the Bible!!

I know what the Bible says about the body being a temple and that strong drink and any thing to an excess is wrong.
I have read the Bible, and I was wondering if I had missed something.

If you are looking to find the exact words don't use tobacco, then guest what your not going to find the exact words you're looking for, because it is not in the Holy Bible. You know and have read of the results of the use of tobacco? Then if you know the results are a cancerous death, why use something that helps kill you, Smart, Hey? Even though God allows it to be grown it isn't necessary that it is for smoking purposes. Anyway, in the Bible it says to Christian's; Therefore honor God with your body. 1 Corinthians chapter 6, verse 20. Question to you, can you honor God if you are indeed destroying the body? The Bible do say specifically do not Tattoo your body, Don't lie with a man as you would a woman, and don't eat meat with blood in it. Look these verses up in the Bible in Leviticus chapter 19 verse 28 (tattoo), Leviticus chapter 19 verse 26 (blood), and Leviticus chapter18 verse 22 and chapter 20 verse 13 (homosexual relation's).

It does not say anything about tobacco in the Bible. However, if you have trusted that the Lord Jesus Christ died for your sins then you have the Holy Spirit dwelling within you and you become the temple of God. If you are the temple of God then you would not want to blow tobacco smoke in the temple. 1 Corinthians 3: 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 1 Corinthians 3: 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

It doesn't.
"Don't you know that you yourselves are God's Temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God's Temple, God will destroy him; for God's Temple is sacred, and you are that Temple." (1 Corinthians 3:16-17 NIV)
The contention that smoking or other tobacco use is a sin comes from the idea that you are purposely doing something to defile the "temple" (temple being your own body).
Zena, are you honestly saying there's nothing wrong in the eyes of God with using things He made to destroy your body?

“Let us cleanse ourselves of every defilement of flesh and spirit.”—2Â Corinthians 7:1. Smoking has been proven hazardous to your health and to those around you. If you do anything damaging to your body on purpose, you are showing disrespect for what God has given you.
The Bible condemns drug abuse. The older meaning of "pharmacy" was drug abuse—for harm, not healing. In the Bible such pharmacy is put in very bad company—“the works of the flesh,” whose practicers “will not inherit God’s kingdom.” (Galatians 5:19-21) The International Standard Bible Encyclopædia says: “Paul in Galations 5:20 classes with uncleanness, idolatry, etc, what he calls pharmakeÃa . . . drugs used in exercising the magical art.” Note, then, the great spiritual harm of addictive substances used for pleasure: They cut one off from God’s favor—and from God’s people.
Revelation 22:15 says that “outside” God’s Paradise Kingdom are “the druggers [phar·ma·koi´] and the fornicators and the murderers.” - INT.

Jesus' body becomes the temple where we worship. We as Christians need to be Christ like in a sense we treat our bodies as Christ would. We treat others as Christ would. We live our lives as Christ would. Well, we are supposed to. None of us can live up to that standard, but it is refreshing to try to be better the next day than we were yesterday. It's called learning from past mistakes. If you do not think smoking is a mistake that might someday take your life or a loved one, then by all means, continue smoking. But if you would be so kind as to not smoke anywhere near me or my children, I would be very grateful. Thank you.

Why would it? Tobacco didn't exist on the Eurasian Continents, it was imported from the Americas, like the potato. How could the people writing the Bible mention something they didn't know existed?

It's probly not in the bible - we believe in modern day revelation remember!!
We believe the Lord's counsel and commandments did not end with the Book of Revelations...or the bible being "it".
It's in the Doctrine and Covenants (the Word of Wisdom commandment.)

More ammunition hunting. You shouldn't smoke tobacco because it's bad for you and bad for people around you. That's the only ammunition you need. Stop using the Bible as a weapon.
