I want to lose weight. I am already going to join Curves but I need to change my food habits as well. Has anyone tried any of these programs and what is your opinion of them. If you have tried a program that is good for long term food habits that I don't suggest feel free to add them. I really don't want to put money into a program and it not be effective

Weight Watchers
Jenny Craig
LA Weight Loss
Curves-has their own book about a weight loss diet.

Any opinions would be greatful.

That is why I was leaning towards the Curves. The have a six week program for 70 bucks but you get their book and bunch of other things in addtion to your classes. I'd rather buy the material as a guidance than have to go weekly to tell me the next step. I just need something to go off of.

Plus with WW, JC, LA WL, they always say that when someone loses weight the results are not typical. It is kind of a turn off to see that they are basically saying their program doesn't work like that.

I was using curves before I lost my job and had to cancel my membership. Curves is like any exercise. How much you put into it is how much you get out of it. I was more referring to the fact that they have their own weight loss diet program.

I know personally many ladies who really like weight watchers. They like the accountability of weighing in weekly and they like the system too. It just depends on how structured you want to be? Some people really like to be told what to eat, how much, and when, some people can do alright with just cutting back portions and eating sweets once a week. Just depends on what you want. I heard the Jenny Craig is pricey as you have to pay for the meals, don't take my word tho, check it out.
I've heard good things about Curves, it's all women and some really like that. Be sure your workouts are difficult enough, as I've heard they're too easy, you might want to visit there several times before you join, I would suggest that before joining any club.

I have researched most of the above and they are all equal to loosing about 2 lbs. a week. That is a healthy amount to loose per week but one can do it on their own and save the money! I personally use a diabetic diet myself. It is safe and you can still eat food. An example of a meal plan would be:
Breakfast: 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1 egg, banana, 1/2 glass juice
Lunch: 2-3 ounces of meat (tuna, chicken) 1/2 cup veggies, salad, 1/2 cup rice
Snack: 2 Sugar free cookies
Dinner: Same as Lunch

You can consult your doctor on the diabetic diet and he/she might be able to give you a booklet on it. Staying away from the concentrated sweets, sugars, pops, and snacks is really important. It's just limiting your intake and making sure that you count the calories your intaking and try to stick to a 1200 calorie diet. It's not the easiest but it works! At least it does for me, but everyone is different.
It is really important to include exercise with you diet. No exercise equals minimal weight loss.

You might think about trying this book called "The Movie Star Diet" by Steve Simmons. It helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn't think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow and an excellent workout to use as well. Plus, it's much cheaper than those other services, which was a big selling point for me in the beginning.

Weight Watchers is inexpensive and promotes healthy eating choices over dieting gimics. The meetings will give you a sense of accountability because every week you have to step on to the scale. I had great success with weight watchers, and I highly recommend them to anyone.

I lost a lot of weight at weight watchers. My wallet got a lot lighter too. Save your money. Eat less, make low-fat, high fiber choices, and exercise. No big mystery, that's how it works. Good luck, I wish you great success.
